There probably wouldn't be any refined carbohydrates on the island to eat, so you'd make out okay.

You can chew on the end of a twig to splay out the wood fibers and make a crude toothbrush just like they did a thousand years ago.

According to the Fit For Life book series by Harvey & Marilyn Diamond, flouride will ruin the teeth over an extended period of time, and we only need a toothbrush and water to keep out teeth healthy.

I have brushed my teeth all my life, except the past 6 years with crest toothpaste and have eaten white sugar, I now have 5 teeth pulled and the enamel is coming off of some remaining teeth. Since I have been on a no sugar diet, I have had no more tooth aches or pulled teeth.

So on an island, the sea water and your finger or a twig would be okay by me....

You don't have to have toothpaste to keep your teeth from rotting. What keeps the plaque off is the brushing motion. If you don't have a toothbrush you could use a cloth like your t-shirt or something of that nature. Like when you are a baby and your Mom could use a wash cloth to clean the plaque off of your teeth.

Toothpaste is an unnecessary thing. It only makes your mouth feel fresh. If you have no toothpaste and no toothbrush, simply use what is handy: a stick, a palm, whatever to scrub your teeth.
