Is it "softwares"? MS Word underlines it as not being a correct word.

What's the plural of hardware? There isn't one.
Cookware, either. However, 'wares' is plural. Go figure.

In your question, though, it would really be software applications, programs, etc.

Ware is already plural. The correct term is software, or software programs (programmes for the english :)).

Software is a "generic object" name. Like hardware or butter.
It has no plural. It indicates a block of stuff...

Most of the time "software" is used as a noncount noun, so it's not used in a plural form.

If you want to talk about something countable, try "programs".
