Watch your calorie intake but most importantly, walk. Start slow and gradually lengthen the distance with each walk and increase your walking pace. This will gradually change your metabolic rate and the weight will not only come off but stay off if you continue the walking.

Congrats on your baby! First off all though are you breastfeeding? This is probably the best way and this is how nature intended it to be. Being a "dairy queen" uses up so much energy you will find yourself hungry all the time eat loads not gain any weight and your baby will be healthier. I breastfed my baby excluxisively for 3 months and I lost all the weight while still eating the during pregnancy portions plus the treats. If you are not breatfeeding then the usual thing will work: Cut down the calories, exercise and you will get there. Swimming is good.

The only tried and true way that has stood the test of time is making a LIFESTYLE CHANGE.
Change your eating habits- Eat lots of fruits, veggies, lean protien and whole grains...Drink skim milk and take a multi vitamin. Drink at least 8, 8 oz glasses of water a day.
And you need to exercise- At least 30 minutes of aerobic activity a day... You can jumprope, walk, run, play sports, bikeride, rollerblade...Anything that is fun for you and gets your heart pumping.
It's as simple as that. There are many fad diet plans out there but they generally only offer a temporary solution and you gain the weight back. Making a LIFESTYLE CHANGE is the only way to be sure you don't put the weight back on.
Good Luck!!!

Nursing is the quickest and most natural way to lose the baby fat. If this is not an option you are comfortable with and you are NOT nursing, slimfast works pretty good. The latest studies of milk show that it's molecilues contain a blueprint intsruction for our body's cells telling them not to store fat. I had a baby 2 years ago and I drink a glass off milk with a prenatal vitamin for breakfast and nothing else till lunch. I am now smaller than I was in high school.....needless to say the baby fat has been gone for a year. Dont try to lose the weight too fast. Your baby needs you to be healthy.

I would suggest walking.
If at all possible get one of those 3 wheel strollers so you can bring Baby along, and try to do at least 3 miles a day. Trust me,that's not alot, but it will get your motabolism up, and your body will start to burn calories ( throughout the day/night), and you'll have more energy. Get one of those little gadgets that count your step/miles/calories, I have one. I walk 6 miles daily, it's a breeze now, and my son loves it. I take along a few toys to toss in the stroller, a few light snacks for Baby, my head phones for music, and I'm off. I was 185lbs in March, I'm now 152lbs!
Good luck

first off, be patient. it took you nine months to gain the weight, so don't freak out and try to lose every ounce within a couple of months. having a new baby can make it difficult to get out to a gym, so i would recommend either getting some good exercise videos or planning a time to walk around your neighborhood. exercise is the key. your diet depends on if you are nursing or not. if you are, you need to make sure that you are taking proper care of yourself so you can nourish your baby. eat sensibly, cut out junk, eat lots of of fresh fruits and veggies, and drink lots of water.
good luck! be patient!
