I have a hole in the center of one of my back, bottom row teeth. I can't remember if i had it filled, and the filling is just erroding or something?- bc i've gotten the white filling in the past and i can't tell my tooth from the white filling color.

It does not hurt when i eat (thank God) but I need some sort of temporary filling until the dentist apt on the 16th! Does anyone know what over-the-counter product would work??

Go to the wal-mart or what have you, and go to the dental isle. You can find temp filling there. You should use mouth wash and rinse well and allow to dry well before putting the temp fill in. You should avoid hard foods like ice, popcorn (ie:seeds) nuts, and corn chips. Take it easy on that tooth, as it is hollow and can CRACK very easily. If you grind your teeth, do get a mouth guard in the dental isle.

Just about any store that has a pharmacy should carry the temp fillings, as for which kind you should use I'm not sure, I would just make sure it's one that will come out by the time you go to the dentist so he/she can see the true damage to the tooth.

If you hav an appointment this week, forget about it. There is little or nothing to gain by placing a temporary filling at home. Especially since it does not hurt when you eat.

If it is not bothering you then I suggest leaving it. However make sure that you do not trap any food in it and keep it clean and flushed. If it starts to bother you get to the dentist right away. Good luck!
