my dog had the same thing for a period, (talking specifically about the dandruff), we also changed from dog food to dog food and there wasnt any difference until we made her try Eukanuba. its one of the most expensive brands, but believe it or not it took away her dandruff completely and made her dark short hair smooth and rich. she is a 12 year old black lab and till this day the dandruff hasnt gone back. if you havent given it a try, go for it.

buy it at petco, sign up and become a member, whenever you buy a 40lb eukanuba dog food bag, you get it marked and on your 10th or 12th time i dotn recall, you get a free bag. better than nothing!

If she doesn't have fleas and hopefully the vet ruled that out because if she does have fleas she is absolutely miserable. Using Advantage alone won't get rid of the fleas it is only a preventative and useless after the fleas arrive. You need to de-flea the whole house. Wash bedding or any place where the dog stays a lot. Because fleas lays their eggs in bedding and carpeting you need to vacuum and throw the bag away immediately. You can buy then use a flea bomb and they work great. You must leave the house with the dog when you use it and close all cabinets and take your plants outside. Or she could have an allergy which would make her itch like crazy and a med from the vet will help. Or she has excessively dry skin which would also make her scratch a lot and I use Omega 3 fish oil gel caps for my dog when he appeared to have dandruff and scratched a lot. It worked pretty good. I put 1 cap in his dish with every meal. But if you haven't given the dog a bath in a while it would be a good thing to do along with the Omega 3 fish oil , the gel caps can be bought at any drug store or Wal-Mart etc.. Good luck.

Several ideas. No beef: put on diet without any beef, including treats and anything, try this for at least a month. Seriously many dogs are allergic to beef and some of them don't react until later . Feed lamb and rice or chicken based productd.
If this doesn
t work it may be allergies which it is if it's allergic to beef, your vet can give a cortisine shot to help for that month and go from there. Then I would make sure to give a muntivitamin or puppy food if it is a small, finiky eater. You know the dog, so you try what you think . One at a time or go for all of it. I really would cut the beef out first.
Some dogs are allergic to weeds at certain times of the year so, the shot may help a great deal. The condition of the skin appears to be allergic reaction. I would not bathe...this may be irritating also. and drying the skin. Give some oil, olive oil in food or cod liver oil if you feel like taking it that far. I t will help the coat and skin. I wish you luck.
My sisters dog has had diarrhea off and on forever and I told her to stop the beef. Guess what, no more. She couldn't believe it. They use by products which are organs and they contain all the contaminants and antibiotics and God knows what that they feed the cattle. Think about it! So, try it and if you bathe the dog try rinsing with a solution of vinegar and water to neutralize the skin. good luck. Let me know how it goes. missmarymrpete@yahoo.com

It sounds like it's an allergic response to something (maybe even a response to stress). We suggest putting her on a diet of rice and lamb, bathe her with oatmeal-based doggie shampoo, brush her every day to get the oils in her coat to help control her dandruff, and keep the stress around her to a minimum. Don't expect changes overnight. It can take up to a month or more for the dog to start showing any kind of marked improvement.

It could be a neurotic behavior problem. Does it occur when she is left alone or has a stressful situation going on? In that case there are many solutions, but they depend on the dog. Also, it might still be the food. My dog went through four foods before we found one that he wasn't allergic to. If all else fails, try California Natural dog food. It has literally four ingredients and if your dog is still having a problem its not allergies if its eating California Natural. It is a bit more expensive, and can only be bought from a Natura pet product dealer, but its worth a try. You can find it on-line. Another posability could be plants in your house, believe it or not, dogs can have plant allergies too.

I would seek a second opinion from another veterinarian. Was a skin scrapping done to rule out mange? Was a blood test done to determine any allergies?
Do you use any chemicals on your grass to prevent weeds? fertilizers?
It only takes one flea to produce an allergy in some dogs.

She may have seasonal allergies or possibly allergic to the detergent you wash her bedding in. Allergies are terrible things for anyone or anything. The best thing you can do is what you are already doing. The process of elimination. Sorry about your frustration.

Buy a bottle of baby oil, and when you bathe your dog, add some of this to the bathwater. It will help control the dandruff and help stop the dry skin and the itching.

Sounds like an allergy. Need to see a vet. They can test them.
