I have been on 20mg of Paxil and now 20mg of Prozac and they both make my anxiety worse. I have a slight anxiety reaction "fight or flight response" to the most minor of things like getting up off the couch. I know I should ask my doctor or pharmacist this question but was wondering if anyone else has some advice.

Throw the pills in the garbage you don't need them and see how that works for a week.

SSRI's don't actually cause anxiety, but they are a side effect based upon your own response. Nothing bad, it's just that you are one of the many, many people that these drugs don't work for. There are MANY out there that have different chemical compositions that may provide the relief you're looking for. If it were me, I'd definitely talk with the doc- I'd hate to trade in one problem for another, and have to dole out money for it!

Any medication will cause different side effects to different people, everyone is different. You may want to try another medication like Lexapro. Also you may have to add an anti-anxiety med along with your anti-depressant, something like Hydroxyzine Pamoate.
