Religion is bad for the world. So many wars are fought because 2 groups of people don't have the same religious beliefs. Look at the middle east. If the Muslims believed what the Jews believed or vice versa, there'd be no problem. They'd all get along. The sad thing is that each belief system is equally made up. We have people blowing themselves up over imaginary gods. Even WW2's genocide of the Jews is a result of religion. Antisemitism was a result of the Jews not believing in Jesus. Although Hitler was himself not religious, his hatred of Jews came from Christianity.

If we would all just stop clinging to these religious myths and accept science as the only way to truth, the world would be a much better place.

Here are some Youtube links on why religion is bad. The first one is Sam Harris giving a speech. The second one is a documentary made by RIchard Dawkins.

Religion is a way for the rich and powerful to control the masses, to do their sick and demented bidding. Now that they control the major media outlets, they don't need to rely religion to control the masses as much. However, it remains a powerful tool that crazed leaders like George Bush summon whenever they need to make people think in a way that's contrary to what we know is right.

It's not just religion that's a plague on the world, it's the power-hungry rich and powerful people in the world.

The root of all evil is Satan and his false religions, which includes Christendom.

Antisemitism existed long before Hitler. The Jews have been attacked and enslaved for thousands of years.

Hitler was Catholic, but was indeed religious, favoring Japanese cults.
Science absolutely cannot promise what the Bible can for those that are true, peaceful, not warring, followers of the King of the Kingdom-------Jesus Christ.

Religious myths?

What is going on in the world now is prophesied.
We true Christians know the outcome of these terrible warring times that are full of disease, pain and hardship.
Science cannot change what has to occur to usher in the Kingdom of God.

Yes, and communist dictators like Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao Tsung have killed more people trying to suppress religion and force atheistic communism upon everyone than all of the religious groups or all other wars in all of human history. Granted, these atheistic dictators lived during the twentieth century, when the human population was at its greatest (so they have more people to kill), but it does prove the point that getting rid of religion does not get rid of wars and killing.

When the atheists were in charge, they were just as violent as any other group. You atheists always fail to address this fact, which only serves to undermine your credibility.

No, religion is not a plague on the world. The evil that people do in the the name of a religious cause is what is wrong.

Consider all the hospitals, schools, orphanages and social services started by good people motivated by the love of God experience in their religion.

Correct religion is the plaque for men took the gospel and molded for their own gain. Religious people are the enemy of god. Christianity is not a religion but a personal one on one relationship with the one true living god. It is more than a bunch of songs or rituals but when man and god walk hand in hand. Growing together and learning from one another much like that of marriage between a man and a woman

Religion is definitely a plague. Spirituality is fine. There is a big difference between the two.

Someday, if we survive all the civil unrest due to religion, the human race will evolve intellectually and transcend the notion of organized religion. Until then, cross your fingers.

Absence of religion doesn't promise a peaceful world, unfortunately. Men will still kill and make war with each other. It is nature.
