My daughter has recently taken a job outside of the home and I am babysitting my grandson. I am running out of things/ideas on what to feed him. He loves veggies so I feed him alot of green beans, carrots and stuff like that, but I don't know what else to buy that makes good finger foods for him to eat.

pineapple
hand held fruits, (although peel apples because the skin gets stuck in between their teeth and enrages them) my boy loved trying to eat apples and plums.
graham crackers
arrowroot cookies
raisins and granola
cheerios - these we poured into small brown paper bags, he loved crinkling the paper bag and digging in it for the cheerios.
oatmeal with whole milk added
eggo waffles (or organic equvalent) with a small side of syrup for dipping (toddlers LOVE dip of any kind)
jello
jam on crackers
juice boxes (this is messy, but my son loved it, occupied him for at least an hour, maybe more. He loved putting the straw in himself.)
pudding
fresh baked cookies
bread
ritz crackers
canned corn - my son eats this like popcorn, mix it with rice and he loved it.
Mac n' cheese
anykind of pasta and sauce
Have Fun! I would always take my son's shirt off before he ate while he was getting it all figured out - less laundry.

I know you have already gotten a lot of feed back on this and some really great ideas. Maybe you wouldn't mind a little more...I loved the Gerber graduates and stage 3 baby food for my kids. Although, I found that I could make the stuff myself and it be more nutritious w/o all the preservatives. I do not recommend hot dogs, even cutting them. It is soft, however, it can still be an easy choking hazard and it really isn't that healthy. My children absolutely loved Veg-all. Mixed vegetables out of a can. I always got the low sodium for that; but it started them early on a great variety of vegetables and now they love vegetables and it is not a struggle to get them to eat them. Good luck and you can always ask the Pediatrician as to what they recommend.

A big thing for my children at that age was macaroni and cheese. I have a 15 month old now and she eats almost anything. The other night I fried green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. She opened her mouth for some and I put a piece of pepper in her mouth with my hand immediately ready for it to be spit out. She ate all three and loved them! Couldn't get enough of them.

That is great that he loves veggies. Buy a sweet potato and bake it in the oven or the microwave until tender. Cut it into small bite-sized pieces. He will love it. He will also like pasta, cut into pieces. For protein, try a scrambled egg, small pieces of chicken, meat loaf, string cheese cut into small pieces, and hot dogs cut into very small pieces - I cut a hot dog length wise in 1/2 and then in 1/2 again before cutting it into small pieces. Don't give him slices of hot dog because they pose a choking risk. He can have Cheerios, graham crackers, goldfish crackers, toast, bagels, biscuits, muffins, and animal crackers. Bananas pieces, grapes cut into 1/4's, melon, homemade chunky applesauce, peeled soft apples, peeled soft pears, canned fruit such as pears, peaches, and mandarin oranges cut into small pieces are all good food choices as well. Rice and potatoes are also good. He should be able to eat most anything you eat provided it is soft enough and cut into small pieces. Avoid nuts, popcorn, hard candy, difficult to chew meats such as steak and pork chops, lettuce, and anything that doesn't seem to mush too well.

Gerber has lots of choices for finger foods for a baby his age, just look at the store. Other ideas- applesauce, pudding, dry cereal, fruit (bananas, kiwi, grapes, oranges), cheese sticks, crackers, yogurt, oatmeal cookies, raisins, buttered bread. Just make sure that whatever it is, if it's not soft, or if it's not really small, cut it up into small pieces.

I feed my one year old son things like: mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, chicken and noodles, grilled cheese sandwich (cut up very small), tuna casserole (I was told babies over one year can have tuna once a week)..Another person answered your question by suggesting peanut butter sandwiches. I was told by a nutritionist that you should hold off on peanut butter for a while (because of the potential of developing an allergy to peanuts)...

Cut up Grilled Cheese sandwich(it's easy to eat)
Soft, fresh fruits(banana, cut grapes, strawberries, blueberries..)
Boiled potatos or mashed
Veggies are great!
Crackers and cheese
Pancakes(no syrup)
Cut up omlet(if he can have eggs, ask mom)
Biscuits
Cooked pasta
Shapes macaroni and cheese
Bologna and hotdogs(on ocassion)
Small cut up pieces of meat(chicken, pork, hamburger)
Toast w/ fruit spread or cream cheese(cut up)
Cheese pieces
Corn, peas, carrots, g beans, lima beans, chick peas)
Bagel with cheese, cream cheese or plain...(good to chew on)
French toast*if he can have eggs
Dry cereal
Nutri-grain bars(cereal bar)
Waffles(plain, w butter or fruit spread)
Small pieces of pizza cut up

All this depends on his chewing ability and how many teeth he has. Eggs are usually fine after the age of 1, but nut products you may want to wait on. He can probably eat lots of different foods, just ask mom. Good luck!
