Hey Jude was written by Paul McCartney about the breakup of John Lennon's first marriage and the message of the song was directed at John's son Jules Lennon. Paul wanted to call the song "Hey Jules" but decided to go with Hey Jude. The words from the song are especially conforting to those facing a hardship over the loss of a family or personal disappointment..."Take a sad song and make it better...remember to let her into your heart then you can start to make it better"
