when I give my cat medicine, he starts drooling at the mouth. Is there any other diagnosis for a cat drooling? He is constantly sleeping, not eating, drinking a LOT of water, and his lips and nose are pale

After reading in my cat book, Cat Love, by Pam Johnson, this is what it says about Tylenol. A single dose of acetaminophen can be deadly because it prevents oxygen from traveling through the bloodstream. This drug destroys a cat's red blood cells and makes breathing extremely difficult, the gums turn blue, and the head swells. Acetaminophen can be deadly to cats!

Sounds like too many questions. What kind of medecine? Is the cat sick. Some medecines make cats drool esp. if it tastes bad. Is that the only time the cat drools? you didn't say? If so then that's prob. the cause. If the cat has worms it will have pale gums, and swollen belly or eating a lot in the early stage. Depends on the kind of worms, that's for tapeworms. Other worms may fill the stomach and keep cat from eating like round worms which can kill a cat. Sounds like the cat needs to see a vet.
cats also have diabetes which will make them drink a lot. so, to diagnose you need to have the cat seen by a vet. ASAP. Cats drool if they have bad teeth or thyroid problems. The vet will know so much faster than you asking here. Please take the cat in. You didn't say how old or what the medication was for or where you got it. Hard to help. Sorry.

If your cat is on meds did the vet explain any side effects and what the meds are for? Do you mean his gums are pale, cats don't really have lips?
This could be a sign of anemia.
As for the drooling, the meds are very likely causing that. If you still have questions over your cat's health, take him back to the vet.

Could be poisioned. I'd take it to the Vet's. You sound like the gal that send another message with the same symptoms. Get your cat some medical attention asap - I wouldnt wait until tomorrow - pale gums mean the cat's anemec among other things - your cat sounds very sick. Is he the one that ate some of his cat sand?? Yes - get it to an Animal Hospital now - better be safe than sorry. Your cat is part of your family - you wouldn't not take your child if it were really sick, would you??

exactly what are you giving him medicine for, he could just be drooling due to the sour/bitter/sweet taste of the medicine. It could also be a bad tooth, mabye an infection in the mouth that is making him sluggish and maybe painful for him to chew and eat. Take him to the vet to check it out.

Tish, I don't think you have a sick cat, I think you're just playing games. You've been posting stuff for how many hours now about your cat?

How about if Yahoo security takes your ISP number, or whatever that number is where they can trace you, and sends the animal control over to get you instead of your cat?

I don't know if you realize it but I can tell by the responses you are getting that you are stressing out a lot of animal lovers and it will only be a matter of time before someone comes knocking at your door.

If you're really treating and abusing him by letting it go like this, you should be turned in to the appropriate people. You may have been reported already, who knows?

Cat Diabetes will prompt much water drinking as well as sticky syrupy urine.

It sounds like he's been poisoned. Get him to the vet immediately; go to emergency after-hours care, don't wait until tomorrow.
