You should be talking to her physician to see what she has been diagnosed with if anything. My gran daughter was born with a disorder called holoprosencephaly and it was a brain disorder. She had the most severer of the stages, it can happen in several stages and she had the most severe. However, she did not have a brain, what formed was a empty sac a membrane without the brain. From all out ward appearances she looked fairly normal. she also had a cleft platte, her nose did not have a bridge. They were going to do surgery when she was around 8 years old to repair the cosmetics. However, because she did not have brain she suffered a great deal of medical problems such as seizures constantly, she could not retain any water, she was taking a great deal of hormones. She lived for 10months before her little body just could not take anymore. She was the love of our lives and we miss her very much. However we feel very blessed for the time that we did have her. She was a very strong little girl and she fought very hard to live. some children live a very long time some only hours or days, this really depends on the severity of the disorder. You can do a search in ask.com using this word holoprosencephaly and they have a vast amount of information. You really need to speak with her doctor and have him refer you to a neurologists if this is what she has. Good luck and God bless you and your family.

Im not sure what they are referring to 'frontal lobe' ...her lung? Possible breathing difficulties. She'll have some problems swallowing, nursing a breast or bottle and may inhale liquids causing her more stress and weight loss. Hopefully, she will get a prosthesis for the pallate to improve swallowing prior to possible corrective surgery.
Her nasal passages may be compromised and the mouth and nasal tissues dryer than should be. Use glycerin swabs to keep her mouth clean and moist and keep down viral and bacterial exposures. Vitamens and diet should be followed very well.
If youre talking about 'frontal lobe' of the brain...its possible that she is brain compromised. As to the extent, that would have to be determined with her growth and progress.
Also her eyesight should be checked.
Please, get full information from your pediatrician....Im only going by some few cases of this that I have worked with many years ago.
Peace, love and prayers.

This is a rather common problem in developing countries, but seen in more modern countries too. I suggest you take the child to a surgeon that specializes in childrens reconstructive surgery, I'm surprised your pediatrician didn't immediately make an appointment for you.
The surgery is a routine one and closes the openings so that there won't be any further problems that develop. Don't worry, she will look beautiful again and you won't even know the difference once she heals.

i thought there were operations to correct this? I do not know what country you are in so maybe this is not an option but if you are in the U.S. it is. Look into it.
