Tilapia is a mild, versatile fish that's often compared to catfish and it's quickly becoming more commercially popular. You'll find it prepared it a variety of delicious ways at restaurants and also available fresh or frozen at the grocery store.
Though the fish does thrive in saltwater, it is most commonly farmed in contained, freshwater farms. The FDA has found it to be very low in mercury, so it's a nice, healthy choice for those who are concerned about the high levels of mercury in other types of fish.

Hi there. Talapia is native to Isreal and has been farmed there for 2,500 years or more. It requires water that is between 76-86 degrees. This is a very good fish and is becoming quite popular here in the states. Go on-line and search for Talapia fish recipies. You will be surprised on how many there are. Try some of this fish. I am sure that you will enjoy it.

I used to eat this a lot when I was living in HK. It's a white-meat fish with pinky-red skin. Great option if you're not a fish lover as it's quite bland-tasting. Try steaming it with ginger and spring onion, then add hot oil and soy sauce, absolutely delicious!

I first ate this type of fish in a restaurant in Hawaii, but you can get in anywhere. It seems more popular lately, I think because it doesn't have that "fishy" taste. Even people that don't like fish would be able to get this down! In Hawaii they served with with mango-papaya-pineapple chutney over it. Delicious!

It's not a scavenger fish, but it is really good (and I don't like fish that much!). I had it baked once and enjoyed it.

It's a white fish, somewhat like cod, but thinner and lighter. It's very popular. It's also somewhat of a bottom dweller. Take that as you will.

I don't know much about it, but I make it a lot. It's a white fish and doesn't really have much taste. I cook it for my kids and they think it's chicken. You and put anything on it and it tastes good

yup, i make sure to buy some whenever i go to the grocery. it's very good for you and there are so many delicious ways to cook it, but the best for me would be either pan-fried or deep fried. where it came from, i'm quite sure it's from the philippines before it was exported and bred in other countries.
