oh this one really gets me going too............tea tree shampoo and tea tree conditioner is a preventative, use either a chemist bought treatment to get rid of the buggas, and then use the teatree whenever you shampoo their hair, or you could use baby oil in their hair and leave over night, then comb out the nits and then wash with tea tree. Wet combing every time you wash the girls hair should ensure that the damn things dont come back. I wish you luck.....only 4 weeks back to school and these critters are making an appearance.!! Grrrrr .........i hate them and the patheic parents who do not check or treat them. Good luck xx

Head lice treatments which consists of Rid or Nix will certainly kill the lice. A lice comb works, yet in case you get a superb teeth comb (it quite is more suitable) and do not options passing a even as, it may help. i assistance getting a bottle of mineral oil and taking some cap-fulls to the scalp and hair. this may melt the hair and make the comb a lot less complicated to get through. take a even as and run the comb throughly through the hair using extra of the Nix answer. Doing this some times and rinsing all suitable, could do the trick.

O.K.....i finally found you again....my very best g.f. said....find the harvard studies web site...they give you allllll of the info on lice. the little buggas have out smarted all of the current chemicals....and the chemicals are VERY dangerous to your (your childrens) health.
tea tree oil is one of the best things to use. also black people hair products. although it is thought black people don't get them, it is only a myth...lice only go to them as a last resort. wash their hair....tea tree oil stinks. use a metal dog's fleaing comb...i know it sounds bad, however it is better than using dog shampoo....the little plastic, or metal combs that come in "rid" are not user friendly on a squirmy child. soften the hair with conditioner....comb through to get the nits. lice have a 10 day life cycle, and go from cemented grains of sand to wiggly "silky" worms, then start over... wash every thing in your house in hot water..add bleach, or brown lysol, items that you cannot wash ie: stuffed animals, freeze them. if you don't know how long...put an ice tray, or a ziplock with water in it, in at the same time...when the water is frozen solid, the bugs should be too.
hope all of this helps!!!!!!

Anything oily will work to get rid of lice. An old school remedy is to use mayonaise... We all know how oily that is. You put on the mayo, comb through with a fine toothed comb, put all of the hair up in a plastic cap for 30 minutes, then wash as usual. Of course you need to wash everything in the house to get rid of any lingering lice. Don't just wash their hair every night!!! Lice love hair that is super clean... It's easy for them to move around in squeaky clean hair.

Been there, had that with three sons. Got a prescription from doctor's finally for lice shampoo. Had to wash all bed clothes, sheets. Used a small amount of bleach. You need to follow the doctor's orders 100%. You also need to inform the schools your daughter's attend. They will by law examine all the kids in the school, send those home that have them. You need to wash all head wear and clothes. I got rid of all pillows, bought new ones at KMart in case it happened again. I know it is devastating, it can be beaten.

Your girls might be upset about having shorter hair (I would have been at that age....) but it sure beats having lice. Man, as if public school isn't rough enough. Poor things.

Anyway, cut their hair as short as they will agree to (it is their hair) and coat it in Vaseline. Leave the stuff on under a shower cap. The lice won't be able to breath. You may need to repeat this, but I have read this is more effective than chemicals, which the buggers have a resistance to.

Special shampoos are one way, but you always find that unless EVERY kid in the school is treated at the same time the little ******* will be back before you know it.

My Sis-in-law had an idea and, although it sounds quite drastic, kept her kids louse free for a good 3 cycles through the school.

Get them trendy short haircuts. Pixie style like Kylies most recently would be a good style.

Good luck

a doctor can prescribe something better than over-the-counter meds and shampoos. Keep hair in a pony tail or braid. I like the person's idea of weekly shampoos with an anti-lice shampoo. Yes guy, lice still exist, rampantly in schools, especially elementary. Anyone can get them. Blessings to you.

Go to your local drug store. The name of the medicine is RID. That is for head lice. Maybe your girls are exposed to another kid with head lice in school. Investigate!!! That's why it keeps coming back. Wash everything. Change pillows. Make sure they don't share comb, hairbrush and other personal things.
