i hurt my back about 6 yrs ago.i went to the chiropractor several years back(4) and he said i had two dislocated dics near the bottom of my spine(he pointed them out,i was there for another problem).at the time they didn't bother me very much so i had no concerns,he told me they would pop in and out of place.now i have back pain nearly everyday and it just gets worse as the day goes on.i have tried weaker meds but hydrocodone work best.i'd like to go to the doctor and get him to prescribe this to me but don't want to sound like a dope head.the chiropractor kept no record of my problem since i was only there 1x for a consult.any suggestions?

i have to agree with mopar, massage is definitely the answer, my hubby had soo much back pain, disks, they said surgery was the only answer, he tried chiropractors, they made it worse then he heard about message, cured his problem years ago, without the surgery, pills if they work are just a band aid, you need a cure good luck n god bless, you have to have some one that is very strong for this, should probably be a man, sorry, no offence meant to anyone by that remark, trying to help, that's all.

I broke several vertrbre in my back several years ago and from time to time I go see my MD and get a refill for my Vicodin ES.

The problem with asking for and doctors prescribing hydrocodone (schedule III narcotic) is compromised by the fact that the use of this medication has increased 400% between 1990-2000...and even more since then. And in 2000 there were 89 million prescriptions for hydrocodone and currently 20 tons of this drug are used in the US...every year.

OK now to you situation. What "weaker" prescription drugs did your doctor write for you? Also, did you obtain the hydrocodone you say worked best from your current or past doctor. If yes, then I have diiculty understanding why he won't refill the medication.

If you got the drugs from an "alternative source" I see your delima of explaining how you know that hydocodone works best.

You may have to submit to diagnostic tests to validate the injuries to your dics...X-rays and costly MRI's. Your stuck due to the extensive abuse of hydrocodone by so many people wanting this drug.

Sorry, I don't have any sure fire suggestion that will get you the medication you want.

Personally, I have never had a problem having a doctor write me Vicodin or Percocet for my back or my migraines even if I am in a new town on vacation and have a new, one time appointment. I suppose that it has a lot to due with your approach and demeanor to your MD.

I have been struggeling with pain for 3 years now. After surgery I realized that I needed the pain medications much longer than any other time in my life. I was used to only getting them prescribed for a couple of weeks, so when it was several months, I talked to my doctor and shared my concern. After watching tv and hearing about people going to rehab for abuse of pain medications I wanted to talk to my doctor about my fear getting "addicted" to pain medication. My doctor reassured me that if you follow the doctor's prescribed amount pain medication can be taken safely for longer term. There is a stigma about taking pain meds that is out there, but had it not been for the Vicodin and muscle relaxer, Skelaxin I have been taking, I dont think I would be able to function. And I am not hallucinating, getting "high" or acting goofy...Please confide in your doctor, and let he/she know you are hurting. If the doctor is credible, they will get you the help you need without making you feel like a doper.

The cream will be utilized as anesthesia shouldn't do no longer some thing or little or no, and also you favor to go back in case you take advantage of it, can actually have damaging consequences secndarios. I extremely have many tattoos and the ultimate suggestion i will supply is to bypass calm "the nerves affecting the lot in which the body makes dolor.porque segregates adrenaline porvoca better discomfort and that's exactly necessary", to secrete endorphins that loosen up basically rioja assessment to the adrenaline and make you a lot less annoying.

Yes I was functional myself with narcotic pain meds dating back to the Navy.

Due to society abuse of such meds CAN no longer find a doctor who will accept me(say chronic pain with long term history they run like maggots exposed to sun... afraid to get in trouble with government).. and that was with major medical(blue cross).

When my last doctor retired I found the 'new' medicine. After losing my job several years later and tens of thousands of dollars... they tell me to take ibuprofen even if it causes bleeding!

The USPS fired me for those medical tests etc. VA says to late/no record.

So break the law and/or emigrate were only options for medications!

That said lose weight. Stretch daily. Break up labor intensive activity. Sleep in 'good' position. Take hot baths, massages if lucky enuff to have close friend or money.

Good luck... broke, broken, and hurting in the good ole USA.
