"The real Rocky" Chuck "The Bayonne Bleeder" Wepner. Stallone was inspired to write "Rocky" after watching Wepner go almost the 15 round distance March 24, 1975 in Cleveland Ohio with "The Greatest" Ali. Wepner managed to knock down Ali with a right to the body in the 9th round.

Note to everyone: I wrote "Stallone was INSPIRED to write "Rocky" not that Wepner was "Rocky" Chuck Wepner runs around saying to anyone that will care to listen "I'm the real Rocky"

Stallone was inspired to write 'Rocky' after he saw Chuck Wepner almost go 15 rounds with Ali.
Ali stopped him at 2:41 of the 15th round, but that was remarkable in and of itself, as Wepner wasn't even supposed to last past the early rounds.

Sly Stallone? If you are thinking it's based on a singular, real person, you are mistaken. All fiction.

As far as I am concerned, this is an outdated question because there were only 4 Rocky movies and no matter what the commercials say, they are not making any more Rocky movies ever.
