Yes.

Catholics have been meditating on the Word of God for almost 2,000 years.

Mediation as prayer is encouraged by the Catholic Church.

For Catholics meditation is a quest to understand the why and how of the Christian life, in order to adhere and respond to what the Lord is asking.

One way this is done is by reading scripture, asking God to give you understanding of it, and then pondering it in your heart.

Here is the Pope promoting meditation on the Scriptures: http://www.catholic.net/global_catholic_news/template_news.phtml?news_id=76678&channel_id=2

Your good judgment is defective. See some verses later what the Bible says: Luk a million:34-35 Then suggested Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing i understand no longer a guy? (35) And the angel spoke back and suggested unto her, The Holy Ghost shall bump into thee, and the skill of the maximum shall overshadow thee: for this reason additionally that holy component which would be born of thee would be referred to as the Son of God. The angel (Gabriel) tells Mary of the paintings that the Holy Spirit will do. Gabriel isn't the Holy Spirit and the Trinity is a Biblical concept.

Actually to be Biblically correct it is food for the soul, not the spirit. You meditate in your mind, which is part of the soul.

Yes, Jesus said man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Very true. He is both my daily bread and living water.

Exactly. That is what give us this day our daily bread is all about. Our "Daily Bread" is the word of God that feeds us.

Also, I believe that when we pray we talk to God and when we read the Bible he talks back to us.
