Oscar continues to nip/lick/chew at his groin area. He is now made a small sore. Doesn't look like fleas. Any ideas to what it could be?

It could be an allergic reaction to just about anything. My Pit had a rash that started on the inside of her legs and then traveled up her belly, I called my vet and he said that it could be from laying in grass that had maybe just been sprayed with pesticides, or even from laundry detergent, or something on the carpet. You can give your dog Benadryl (1 mg per pound) My dog is almost 80 pounds so I can give her up to 80 mgs of Benadryl... it will help with the itching, and can even help to clear up the rash... it will make your dog a little sleepy, and maybe even disoriented, it's almost like them being high. I would double check with your vet before giving any medication first. There are also antibiotic sprays that you can get from your vet that dry quickly, so the dog can't lick it off and get sick, that will help with the healing of the sore. Good Luck. Hope your little guy feels better soon.

You need to take Oscar to the vet. One reason or another (probably allergies), he has skin allergy dermatitis which can lead to a secondary skin infection or staph infection. Determining the source of the allergy is key, once the source is taken car of, Oscar should stay well. Oscar will probably need oral antibiotics and maybe even a low dose of prednisone and Genesis Topical Spray. Pugs tend to have skin allergies.

Not really an idea of what could be going on but make an appointment with the vet before he really hurts himself he might have dry skin and need some ointment.

allergies...your vet can help with that. It's a very common problem this time of the year with many dogs and even cats. Easily treated, but usually comes back every year around the same time. Goodluck!

Do you have any weeds like wandering dew in or around your yard, could be a problem that needs to be removed. You may have other plants etc. in the yard that isn't in the best interests of your dog.

could just be irratated because he is licking so much. he may just be licking a lot when hes bored also, he may have started it when you are not home or what not and now it is a habit to him, call your vet and he should have some sort of cream or advice for you.
