Honestly? I have been using Equate (Wal-Mart) dandruff shampoo for years now, and it works just as well as the more expensive brands like H&S and Selsun Blue for half the price. If you have a severe dandruff problem, though, you might want to consult a dermatologist. If not, try Equate shampoo; it won't hurt you to spend $2.50 for a bottle that will probably stop your problem.

Break up 8 aspirin, mix them in a large cup and put this mixture on your hair. Let it soak in, perhaps 20 minutes. Then rinse.
Re-wash with anti dandruff shampoo. The use a good conditioner.

I have the same problem too....but I still use Head and Shoulders but they have a lotion that you can put in your hair after you wash it. You use this lotion to put on your scalp exactly after you wash your hair and rinse it out after a few minutes. The lotion tingles and feels good.
