I'm proud of you. Quitting is very scary. Your family already knows you have a problem. Talk to them and get into detox and rehab. You really need to do this under a doctor's care. You can have serious withdrawals and it can cause seizures.

Please get to a detox.

I wish you the best of luck.

you are going through withdrawls-depriving your body of something it is used to having. If you have insurance coverage, you can check into an inpatient program until you get all the alcohol physically out of your system. If you don't have coverage, you can take over-the counter meds until you get this out of your system. A family member might assist with "babysitting" you until you get over the physical symptom. But your dilemma will not end there. You need to avoid all the places and people that you associate with drinking. It will be hard, but if you want to quit, you CAN do it. Good luck

Dont think of quitting "forever". Do it just for the day. If you can get through one day, you can go through another, and another. Do it for yourself and no one else. Alcohol is poison, and like myself you were brainwashed early to view it as kool and it got you out of your skin. Forget it. The real challenge of life is to handle all things without a substance in you that gives you courage , then bites you the next day. Look for an alcohol counselor in your area and start really enjoying life, with new eyes. take it from me , i've been there. Peace.

Your admitting that you are an alcoholic tells me that you have the battle half over. Try going to an AA meeting. Have compassion for the folks that say dumb stuff. They are trying their method. Many people say good things that are very positive.
Listen to everything that is said. Don't be bashful. Say your piece.
My name is John and I am an alcoholic. Been dry for thirty years.

It's never too early to stop. Go to AA and ask for a Young Person's Meeting. You'll find you aren't the only one and that many people want to help you. You don't have to live like this.

You need to enter rehab and get someplace where they can control your dependence on alcohol. Listen very carefully, Alcohol has taken control of your life. I feel sorry for you, but you've taken the first step and want to change. The next step is to make the big leap and make the change.

Hi,
The best way to quit is to really want to quit. You also need to know that as long as your alive you can NEVER take another sip.....EVER. You should ask your physican for help. You'll need to detox, however you decide to do it is up to you. You will shake and get sick so prepare yourself for it ahead of time and again, once you do that why would you want to take another sip. You CAN do it, and stay sober for the rest of your life.

The best thing for you at this juncture may just be to check into a rehab clinic...they will be better able to evaluate and treat you...plus they can better deal with the withdrawal symptoms and the emotional dependency as well...Good luck!
