nose and ears respectively...dried mucous and naturally occurring ear wax...it helps to trap the grungy bits that might get into your nostrils and ears...kinda icky stuff but natural...just blow your nose regularly and clean out your ears but not too deeply or vigorously...

They are secreted by specialized glands in the nose and the ear. The canal leading to the eardrum is lined with hairs and ceruminous glands that secrete a substance that mixes with sebum to form earwax. "Boogers" come from the nasal mucous glands lining the nasal walls.
