To a certain extent, yes. I've read several articles over the past few years about African-Americans being able to identify what tribe/tribes the slave ancestors were stolen from.

I think that most caucasian American's are generally mutts and it would be a waste of money to even attempt to untangle your genetics save for a potential clue for a health problem.
