Why are people so freaking rude towards immigrants?

People who do this are usually unsophisticated , uneducated people who have a fear of people different from themselves. They lack basic social skills, have an inability to adapt and to see how much they could learn from other cultures if they would just open themselves to different cultures. Fear makes them react with rudeness and anger. I pity them.

People are ignorant. Plain and simple. There is no reason to be rude towards anyone. No matter where people are from or what language they speak, we all feel the same when someone is rude to us. There is no reason, it's just that some people are just real idiots who will never be happy and hates the fact that someone else finally gets a chance at being happy. Don't worry about those ignorant people. At the end of the day you go home with yourself, so why let them bother you?

People in America do not realize that immigrants both legal and illegal are here to do the services that keep the last frontier of our free enterprise and lowest cost of food here in the USA that we are missing the big picture, the cheapest thing we have here is food and the only way that commercial farmers can compete with foreign competition is by hiring illegals to work their farms or lose the domestic market to cheaply imported goods that do not have the same labor and wage standards as the USA even at five dollars an hour,we are still ahead of other countries in the production of food,we will lose it because the general public is being duped into believing that it is taking away our jobs nationally,when we purchase cheap products from WAL-MART and in doing so leave smaller and more competitive grocery chains that adhere to higher standards of living than WAL-MART,WAL-MART is said to be greater than GM,but they do not have the same benefits as GM by national standards,so our anger should be directed to our inability to put the brakes on companies that undermine our standards of living and future independence on imported cheap goods,It is so hypocritical to outsource your needs to sweat-shops in the exterior and re-import it for a higher profit.We as a nation are authors and victims of our own demise since we are so inclined for cheap thrills

I think it's because they carry the general impression that immigrants are not as educated as they are. It may be because they think because this person does not speak English well or at all he cannot possibly be smarter than me. I also think that it is because people have become increasingly impatient and do not want to take the extra time to try and communicate with someone who may not understand English.

I really wish that people would learn the opposite of this. That there are people here in the US that dont speak English well might be smarter than them. A lot of people who come here speak several languages. It just may be that English is not one of them. I would also like for them to learn more paitience. Just because someone does not speak a language well, does not mean you cant try and communicate with them.

Rude people are just rude people.
If there was no instigation or situation that might have made someone irritated (still better to be polite), then they are just rude.
It's sad, people used to have better manners.

We have a lot of immigrants in my neighborhood...they play their car stereos really loud late at night, they litter, jaywalk, let their kids run wild in the stores, graffitti, park where-ever and urinate on trees and walls and I still can't think of anything to say except
"Honey, we don't do that here"...

let me tell you a story. one of the dj's of a well known radio station was in a grocery store waiting to check out. a lady in the arab headdress (i don't know what its called, sorry) sneezed. being a well brought up southern boy, when she sneezed, he said god bless you. she gave him a dirty look like he had done something wrong. i don't think that people are rude intentionally, i just think that they are tired of people looking at them like they are because they don't want to learn your language just because you came here. they don't want to change thier way of life just becasue you came here. and they're tired of not being able to buy medicine for thier children when yours are getting assistance from the government and they can't when they're paying the taxes that provide the income for those programs. if you feel that people are being rude to you, maybe you could say, "I'm sorry. i don't understand all of your customs yet. if i have offended you could you tell me what i did? i didn't mean to." if you find out how to fit in in your new country instead of trying to make your new country fit into your old customs, you'll have a better reception.

Sorry, but where I live. We are not rude to immigrants. We are currently experiencing a skills shortage and will welcome anyone who is willing to work.
