My family is really bummed out because tommorrow is the day that my dad died.

They say we quit celebrating his birthday and now only mourn his death. I told them that this wasn't only the day he died, but the day that he was "born into Heaven",as he was a christian man.

as with any birth there is pain, even when it is to heaven.

my question is, would this help you in your grief?

Don't think I've ever heard of being "born into heaven" in the sense you use it. I'd think of it more as being "born again". However, if it does provide comfort to you, and if it is theologically correct, then why not.

I've heard people who use the therm of a Christian's death or "home-going" as their "Graduation day"; having gone through the learning time on Earth, now they have Graduated to Heaven.

Whatever help in time of grief; as long as it is theologically correct.

After the Amish school shooting an Amish Man was quoted as saying, " Since we believe in the hereafter, we believe that death is more important then birth. And therefore the dead are better off then the living." Many people have a hard time with death but surely we are all going there sooner or later. And, of course one usually does not celebrate the dead's birthday. Birthday's are, after all, a celebration of birth. That does not mean that one should forget about that birthday entirely. But the date of death is the only thing left, after all. You shouldn't mourn though, you should remember and celebate those memories. In 1986 my mother died after a long illness, I held her hand while she died. While she could still talk I asked her, "you ain't scared are ya, Ma?" And she said flatly, "No I ain't scared." I don't mourn my mothers passing, because if she wasn't scared, there's nothing to mourn. She was born into heaven just as you say and for that I celebrate. I only hope that if that question is asked of me that I can answer as easily as she did.

The birthday of Heaven is on June 9, the first day of Creation.

To be absent in the body is to be prsent with the lord!!!!

This is what saved people should say when a loved one goes to meet the lord, its hard and they are missed here but do you really think they would leave heaven? IM sorry for your loss but it sounds like your father was a saved man and sits at the feet of his savior that is a reason to rejoice!

Believing that our loved one has gone to heaven is always comforting. When I get all sad because I remember some of dearest ones who had died, I imagine them in heaven doing those nice quirky things that I always liked about them: for example, my gentle auntie esther baking; the sister of my heart holding an audience captive with her stories; my beloved Peza basking in the grass; my mom debating with Saint Paul; my grandma greeting everyone she knows with "Que rica, que rica! (how rich, how rich!).

If thinking about heaven birthdays help you, why not> who knows, your guardian angel may have whispered the thought to you to help you in your grief

Most of my family is very distant from me, so I can't imagine what you're going through. My grandmother passed away as a Christian 2 years ago, but I can't even tell you the day...

Many prayers to you, though, my sib in the Lord...

2 Corinthians 5:8-We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

Yes, I do think it makes people feel better and it is not far off from the truth either I mean when we get old and get ready to die here we are toothless again--bald---wearing diapers again--whining and crying--just like little infants--Oh my Jesus you do have a sense of humor!

WITHOUT LIFE THERE CAN BE NO DEATH WITHOUT DEATH THERE CAN BE NO LIFE. everyone will die to fulfill the destiny of our race and all we are doing is leaving the imperfect plane of existence for a much better higher plane of existence.
