I've recently cut out all soda/caffeine from my diet, along with added salt. In a month, I have lost 15 lbs.
In order to loose weight and effectively keep it off, you will have to do some exercise - even if it's only 15 mins a day to start. If you have an extra few minutes in between classes, take the longest route to your next class. If there are stairs, take them. That will get in a bit more exercise for you. You can also do simple excerises in your room - Take whatever you have lying around (I use a jar of Ragu spahetti sauce), a textbook, or anything that weighs about a lb - you can do arm curls, and a few other exercises this way. You can try to get in a few sit ups, or stand in place with legs slightly apart, and slowly rise on your tip toes.

If you don't have healthy choices, then you'll have to cut back on the portions you are taking. Skip dessert and grab a piece of fruit. Walk to and from work. Take the long way to class...anything to get a little bit more walking time in everyday will help. Get an exercise video you can do at home. You have to make time to do it--only takes 30 to 45 minutes a day for most of them.
