I went on that grapefruit diet a couple of years ago, and I lost like 5 pounds in a week, but it made me really sick. I want to go on another low-carb diet because I know they work, but I don't want to make myself sick again. What is the minimum amount of carbs someone needs to lose weight and still function healthily? (I am exercising too). Just in case you need to know I am 5'3" and about 118 pounds. I'd like to drop about 8 pounds.

Adkins worked great for me. I ate just about anything I wanted, kept my carbs between 20-50 grams per day and lost 20 pounds in 3 months.
