You can get a spray at your pet supply shop, that will help.. You apply it daily to the dog after brushing, and it holds down the dander..(allergens)
Vacuum often, everywhere that the dog has been..

The allergy is caused by the dander that comes off the skin of dogs, not the hair itself.
There are some shampoos that help control dander and you can also try keeping a room purifier running to help pick up the allergens.
Keeping the dog sleeping quarters away from where your boyfriend stays might also help keep the allergens down. Keeping the house
dusted and vacuumed regularly will also help along with keeping the dog off the furniture and beds. There are many products available with a prescription that your boyfriend can take to help him with his allergies. This is a tough problem and I hope a solution can be found so you all can be together.
Good Luck.

I'm allergic to animal dander, so after much research I got a Schnoodle (1/2 mini poodle, 1/2 schnauzer). Very loving, doesn't shed, I wash him every 2 weeks and wipe him down with a bathing cloth in between his baths and grooming every 6 weeks. A slicker brush will pull out the dead hair so it's not bad at all. You can get dressed and have people come over without finding dog hair.

Here's a picture of what they look like: http://www.schnoodle.info/

Go to Drs. Foster and Smith and see about this product called Dander Free. (See link below)

Also, vacuum often and wash your dog with a mild dog shampoo about every 2 weeks. Carpeting holds in the dander that your bf is allergic. Get rid of the carpet and go bare floor . Change your bedding at least twice a week, especially if your dog sleeps in your bed. Stuffed toys also hold a lot of dander. Throw them in the dryer for about a half hour or so, or put them in sealed plastic bags. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but anything that can hold and retain animal dander will create more of an allergy problem for your bf.

Best wishes to the three of you.

Yes and no. If the dog mostly lives outside, yes. But if the dogs likes insides, probably no unless you're very careful about dust and fur and things that will cause allergic reactions.

I'm also allergic to dogs, and I used to have a cocker spaniel... What I used to do was wash her every couple of days and vaccuum the floor and couch... and pretty much just keep things clean and fur free. Also your boyfriend could use claritin or some kind of allergy medication to keep it in check.

YES. I am very allergic to pet dander, we keep air cleaner/purifers in the house. It makes a huge difference.

poodles , yorkies and some other breeds have hair-like fur so they are less likely to upset allergies. If you already have a pooch, you can buy air purifiers (good ones with hepa filters) and they can help. Vacuum rugs and drapes very often will help, too.
