On your pet, Advantage or Frontline. In your home, Adams and Zodiac have environmental treatments such as carpet powder, foggers, and sprays. You can also put a flea collar in your vacuum bag for extended flea control in the home.

You buy flea killer and get the good stuff from a vet or from a pet site online or some petshops carry the good products,. I mean ADVANTAGE, FRONTLINE, and there is one called PROGRAM I heard it was too strong I never use that one. if you get those cheaper over the counter flea killers they do not work much at all and may even make the cat sick. In meantime buy some flea shampoo and wash the pet and also get a flea comb and use it on the pet. You have to kill those fleas that already are in your rugs and sofas, etc so take care and first of all get Advantage I would use that one first...it costs money I mean it is not inexpensive to buy it...be prepared to spend bucks......shirgy.

My Mom swears by Avon's "Skin So Soft" for her pets. She bathes them every few weeks in it. I use "Hartz" flea drops and they work fine on most pets. If you have an infestation in your home, you need to set out some of those bug foggers, like "Raid" or "Decon". After that, vacumn your house thoroughly to get rid of the dead fleas and eggs. There are sprays and granules to put in your yard to kill the fleas and ticks. Also, you need to keep up on this regularly or they come back.
To keep them from biting you, use a product with DEET or the Skin So Soft. It really works.

We had success by treating the pet who brought them in with the veterinarian's recommended flea prevention treatment. Then we moved out of the house for a few days (actually, we and the pet went on vacation) and had the house treated inside and out with flea repellent. Fleas who didn't die immediately apparently starved when their hosts moved out for a week.
