What about how much living space does it have?A dog isnt a toy it needs a yard.
All types of dogs will have their own behavioral problems so your not going to get a perfect dog, its all about how you train it.
You will spend money on any dog as they will all have something wrong you have to take to the vet and pay out on.

It really depends on where you live. Obviously a large dog in an apartment might not do well. As far as the Chichuahua to Dane comparison. We have a Whippett (size of a mini greyhound) a Great Dane, a Rottweiller and a Hound along with a cat all live indoors. Have lots of house and lots of land. Pick what you can take care of comfortably, maybe a medium dog like a cocker spaniel.

for me BIG DOGS! I just love a huge dog. Both small and large have their own set of health issues as do each breed. Big dogs to me have always been more laid back. I have had my share of small ones also and love them too. If money weren't an issue I would own bull mastiffs and great danes. They can also intimidate someone (most are big ole teddy bears and great with kids) but people don't know that just by looking. Big dogs are great pillows too!

If money and space are not an issue then it is more about what would fit in your lifestyle. For example, I would not suggest a boxer for a couch potato. Nor would I suggest a beagle for that same couch potato, www.dogbreedinfo.com is an excellent source of information and even has a 'breed selector quiz.' You simply answer a few questions about your life and it will give you some breed suggestions. I personally have an English Mastiff who is 120lbs and is completely indoor which is part of their breed personality. So once again it depends on what you want because I personally don't mind finding her at the foot of my bed every night, lol.

Medium dogs have the best rate of surving and living along long life, small dogs have more medical issues than medium as in bigger dogs, bigger dogs dont live as long. Meduim dogs aka Sp[ringer spaniels, Labs, Golden retreivers, Brittany spaniels have an excellent bill of health depending the breeder and breeding line, there also obident great hunters and active dogs when need be and they have great pearsonaltiys and work well with choldren and elderlies

I have only known one dog, Sparky, a Shepherd/lab.
He was over active until about 2 1/2 years old....since then he has been the best dog in the world.
Wonderful protection for wife & daughter, and a great friend on hikes in the Niagara Gorge

it depends on you but I have 2 smaller dogs a pom-chi and a shih tzu-daschund. I've also had a cocker spaniel which is like a medium sized dog. but I think it really depends where you live, if you want a hyper dog, etc. I like my smaller dogs b/c they are playful, lack health and behavior issues and have a ton of personality and they are still small enough to curl up with when I'm cold :)

Well it depends what you want in a pet, I mean i prefer a west highland terrier because it is small (not tiny), so i can cuddle with it and hold it, also it is easier to travel with, also she is so playful....but it really depends on how much time you have with your pet, where you live.....so basically there is no right or wrong answer...its just a matter of personal preference...although there are websites that have quizzes to help you find the right type of dog for you....

If u have smaller kids around u might get a big dog. If u r going 2 keep inside get a smaller dog because it wont have as big of mess. Make sure u take it out alot if its inside. Pluse make sure u work with. Why i like my small dog is she cant get on the table pluse she cant jump 2 high. And she doen't take the hole bed

it depends on the dog. smaller dogs tend to have a longer life expectancy to larger dogs. behavioral issues can occur in any as for health issues some pedigree dogs have health issues that you need to be aware of check with a breeder. id go for a mongrel any size i think theve got more character.
