Why is it called hot chocolate when you use water or milk? Its the wate and milk that you use and add 3-5% of chocolate powder and mix it with the water/milk,. So it should be called Hot water flavoured chocolate, or hot milk flavoured chocolate. Why hot chocolate? It ain't the chocolate thats hot, its the water/milk!
What do you think? Do you agree? If not, then why?

Because there's something cozy and comforting about the words: hot chocolate. Chocolate is quite a hard, cold word by itself, but add the word "hot" and it conjures up a different image!

If you are so disappointed with the Hot chocolate available to you, you should try going to Russia - when you ask for Hot Chocolate there, that is exactly what you get, a hot runny gloop of chocolate in a cup that you have to eat with a spoon - I dare you to get through a whole cup - I certainly couldn't. In russia you have to order Cocoa to get the milk/watery version!

As for why, those who have said 'you wouldn't call coffee.....' Right on.

Its chocolate that has been made hot by the hot water, its obvious! Hence the name Hot Chocolate or it is also known as Drinking Chocolate! You can call it what ever you want, what ever floats your boat.

It still tastes like chocolate and it's quicker to say than "hot water flavoured chocolate".

Well why do you call coffee . . coffee? It's mostly water with coffee bean flavoring. Or tea for that matter. Water and milk are just the bases for coffee, tea, soup, hot chocolate. I mean choclate flavored water doesn't sound quite as good as hot chocolate does it?

And anyways, the chocolate actually is hot.
