After reading all of these I am glad I am old and my life is ending in this wicked world. But I really feel sorry for the muslim men.
Me and my husband were married as teenagers and have been best friends and confidents all our lives. He told me that his most special moments was when I curled up to him in the night and wispered in his ear how much I loved him. How much I wanted to be with him. We never gave it a thought about who was superior or to be the boss. We made decisions together as friends and lovers. Never did it cross my mind that he might beat me with a stick. Or cover my head so other men couldn't see me. He knew I loved him and would never be unfaithful.
That is called trust, and I trusted him. We watched our children grow up and met each new challenge together.
On watching the CBS special he looked at me and said those words. If feel sorry for Muslim men. I said "why"
Because do they ever know what it is like to be really loved?
To know their wive stays with them because she loves them not becuase she is afraid of being hurt or killed if she leaves.
I want you here because you want to be with me, not because you have no other choice. They will never know what that feels like.

actually kim c said it best. The Bible teaches women to be "subservient." You can look at that way, or you can look at it as America has no more morals and values. Everyone is for themself, the family doesn't exsist anymore and things are a lot more severe here. I have been to other countries (older countries) and the reason why they still exist is because of the way famililes hold up. The women and men live there lives and there children are children. Yes the women cook and clean, and the men bust there butts to provide. Maybe it is me, I find nothing wrong with it. If you go back to the 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, the family was strong. My grandmother cooked and cleaned and took care of the kids, and my grandfather worked, and yes when times got tough my grandmother worked. Now in the present time everything is about getting "money" and "keeping up with the Jones". That is why the divorce rate is so high here. My grandparents have been married for over 50 years.
to the person above me. It isn't about being scared. Good for you and your husband, but until you have been around and lived in that life "muslims" then you can make judgement. Muslims are not the only culture who covers there head. A lot of older countries still do it. Christians, and Catholics cover there heads to. Have you ever been outside the US, or around Muslims, or is it Propaganda that has you thinking this?

I think people convert to Islam because the religion makes a lot of sense. The bottom line is to believe in one God, a God who has no equals, and worship him, and not to worship a person. Its much more simpler than the belief system in Christianity. Taken from someone elses answer:
"Because Muslims do not believe that Jesus was the Son of God, sent from heaven to die for us, to take all our sins upon himself, so that we can all be free. Muslims do not believe that Jesus left the Holy Spirit for us to freely access, so we can have an open and intimate relationship with God, our heavenly father."
That, in my opinion makes no sense what so ever. To believe that a human person is God, or Gods son is ridiculous. Another reason people convert away from Christianity is that the Roman catholic church (the institution, not the religion) is quite possibly the most corrupt organisation known to man. For centuries they have tinkered and tweaked the religion to meet their own selfish needs to such an extent that the there is little truth in it anymore. Islam, and the Quran are 100% the original article and many scholars, once studying the Quran have converted to Islam as there are no contradictions in the Book, and it makes perfect sense.
As for converting because of the reason you suggest, thats just silly. If a person was to convert for this reason they really shouldnt be, as in Islam the most important thing about a person is their intentions. You convert if you believe in one God and believe that the Prophet Mohammed is the Messenger of God. Not for any other reason.

In the past reverting to Islam in the West was confined to the oppressed and the meak, the underdog, if you like. Now the trend has been reversed. In America, for instance, coverts tend to be white middle class successful professionals, guys and girls looking for an alternative lifestyles, moral discipline and spirituality.

Everthing depends on the fashions (and fads) of the times - in tune with what people desire and seek. Somethings are popular for sometime. It is all a question of evolution. If tomorrow another idea fulfils your longings ..... people will not hesitate to run there. It is an ever changing phenomenon.

your ignorance precedes you.do christian women covert to islam because they and other women from the west are dyin to be mistreated?do you realize how many women have left you?you have made nothin but atheists and muslims from your religion.the rest of you are devoid of understanding.islam remains popular because christianity is not.as the ny times put it "their children are leaving in droves".where do you think they are goin?to what you call popular thats where.your women are disatisfied with your psuedo men.they can find no security in your religion.they can find no one who can explain to them just what the hell they been told all their life.and the first chance they get they get they run from you and unto real men.real religion. a real God,not a man who people made into a God.and men and women of understanding pay heed.
