we took some video of our band and converted them to disc and then to DVD but we lost the originals that were in .avi/.mpg format! and i need to make more copies for promotional use! i used anyDVD to decrypt and i have clonedvd2 but i would rather convert them so i can import to windows movie maker so i can do some video editing and clean them up and also shorten them ! im not really sure windows mm is the program i need to do that either! either way id like to convert the files back so i can store them but any editing tips or fav programs that you all know of would be greatly appreciated! i dont wanna spend a bunch of money on a program that will give me headaches: otherwise ill just take the discs to someone and have it done!! all at yahoo answers have been great to us and i extend a thank you in advance for the help!!!

Go to the URL below for a free, open-source prog called MediaCoder. It will convert just about anything. I use it all the time. It is well supported and constantly being updated and made better. HTH
