The UN does not have a standing military force. Never has, and most likely never will.
To deploy wearing the blue helmet, you need to join the military of a member nation, usually the army. A lot of positions only call for observers, which normally mean officers, but there are many enlisted/noncomissionned men and women out there.
As for how to deploy to a UN operation once you have joined a military, I don't know how it works in other countries, but in Canada, volunteering for a UN tour is one of the common ways to get one.

Join the French Foreign Legion. They get selected to pull peacekeeping duty with the U.N. more than anyone.

you don't enlist to become a UN Soldier. You enlist in one of the UN members standing armies, of which the US is one, and have your country selected to perform a UN Mission. POOF, your a UN Soldier.

want to do something for the greater good in dangerous places and situations? try and get a support job with Medicine sans frontier (doctors without borders) they are usually the first in and the last out and need support staff, look them up and give the world a year or two of your life to help someone else save thousands of others
