You wait... I haven't seen any cat skeletons in trees or under them for that matter. Throwing things at the cat will only keep her/him up there. Just go away and leave it in peace. It will come down.

First off have you even seen the skeleton of a cat in a tree? No. That is because if you leave it alone it will climb back down. Put a can of food at the bottom and walk away. The cat was scared up that tree to start off with until it feels safe it will not come down. Leave it alone and make sure that whatever chased it up there is gone. And kitty will come back down all on its own. You trying to get it down is actually scaring it more.

Give the cat a chance to climb down on his own. Throwing stuff at him will just scare him into panicking which might make him climb even higher. Only if the cat has been up that tree for more than a day should you call animal rescue services. They have some experience in getting silly kitties down from a tree. LEAVE KITTY ALONE for a while so he can calm down and assess his own situation by himself. I know that you mean well, but by throwing things at him, you are just adding to his stress, fear and confusion.

All the cats I've seen climb up trees have managed to climb down again on their own - once I turned my back on them and gne back inside my house!

Sounds like there are some real cat haters answering questions this evening! Unfortunately, as easy as it is for a cat to climb up a tree, it's almost impossible for them to climb down. The problem is their weight distribution. The only way for them to get down is to jump down and they can get really, really hurt. In the good old days, you used to be able to call the fire department to come and get them, but in most cities in the US, they won't do it anymore. Occupational hazard i guess...a frightened cat in a tree can do some serious damage to it's would-be rescuer with it's claws. I would see if you can call Animal Control in your city to see if they can rescue the cat. Poor kitty. It must be really frightened. Check with neighbors...maybe they have a ladder. Good luck.

Just wait. The cat will eventually come down when it gets hungry. I know we've had this happen to us before when one of our cats got stuck up in a tree. They will find a way to get down.

throwing stuff at cat- not good. I would suggest you buy a can of cat food, open er up and put it next to the tree....then go back inside. Cats are stubborn, I've got 4.
If that doesn't work, get a squirt gun and see what that'll do.

I would try a .44 magnum. Seriously, my Pops is a firefighter and back in the day, they used to have to rescue cats from trees. Then the city made them stop doing it. My Pops once said to a lady that called them "Ma'am, have you ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree?" I reckon that should answer your question.

I would advice you to spray him/her with water, it may sound cruel but it isn't. Cats hate water, imagine if you went up the tree with a ladder and fell. Cats can climb up as quickly as they climb down - many persons don't seem to realize this and tie up firefighter services.

The cat got up there, it will get down. You are probably scaring it and it will not come down till you leave and it thinks it is safe to come down. Leave the kitty be for a few hours, or more, and it will leave when it gets hungry enough.

Get a can of tuna, open it in the yard, and walk away. Dear God, don't knock him out the tree with a water hose or stick, he got up there himself let him come down himself.
