IF I got it right he saw her 24 hrs after the first birth. Highly unlikly that if a pup was still there it would be alive. However if there IS a dead one in there, I hope that was a hormone shot to help encourage her to deliver cause a undelivered pup can kill the mother. If you cannot get a definative answer (and action) you need a second opinion- soon.

You need to get the dog to the vet. There can be a dead puppy inside and it would need to be removed with either an Oxytocin shot, or surgery. If not, the dog can become toxic and die.

X-rays are not 100%. Check with the vet that took the x-ray and go from there. They can take another to see if there is still a puppy in there.

Hey, Redhead....it is D&C......dilate and curretage. And they do not give them to dogs!!!!

If they took an xray they would have seen if there were any more pups in there, however I would give them a call and tell them what is going on. There should be an on-call number somewhere where they can advise you on what to do.

OMG!! I'm so sick of stupid people who don't know what they are doing breeding their poor pets to make money! Take her to the vet, and while you're there, get her spayed! I can't believe you'd get into breeding with such ignorance. People like you are the reason millions of poor animals are put to sleep every year. You shouldn't breed if you haven't apprenticed, are bettering the breed, and certainly if you don't know something as simple as this.

There are more than one thing that can cause the problem. The black discharge is a dead puppy.
The worse cause is Brucellosis

The only thing is to get that dog to an emergency vet NOW ! ! even if it is 2am where you live.

Call the vet and asked the doctor that treated her.

Yes, she needs to go back to the vet...or another vet..A retained puppy can cause pyometra, which can be deadly..
