I live in the UK and yep my teenage daughters watched the show 'Laguna Beach' on MTV and insisted we include a visit there on our 3 week tour of California! We even stayed at the hotel featured on the show (The surf and sand) We spent 2 nights there.....it has a lovely beach and its great to wander around the many art galleries and quaint shops. There isn't an awful lot to do though so we took a drive to Huntington beach to get a bit of surf culture.

There is a beautiful beach. Lots of shops and art galleries and plenty of restaurants and clubs. It's a great place to hang out!
