Give up smoking for a start, brush your teeth twice a day with a good toothbrush (make sure you brush your tongue), use a good mouthwash and floss once a day. Also carry chewing gum, mints and breath freshener with you.

The worst cases of bad breath that I see are usually due to poor oral hygiene, smoking only compounds this.
The smell is caused by sulphur producing bacteria which if not removed efficiently fester between the teeth and below the gumline producing the sulphurous gas as they bio-degrade (not a pleasant thought I know!)
You need to be sure that you are brushing as well as you possibly can (I'd advised disclosing tablets available from Dentist and Pharmacies to show where the plaque bacteria are on your teeth)
People generally do not brush anywhere near as well as they think they do!. An electric toothbrush is probably better as the heads are smaller and can get in the more awkward spots, you do not have to spend a fortune on one, just go for a rechargeable one the battery ones are useless make sure you step around each individual tooth when brushing.
Next.... Floss or Interdental brushes DAILY this is vital as this is where most of the really smelly bacteria live in the crevices between your teeth, don't worry if your gums bleed at first persevere and I promise they'l settle!
Next..... Tongue brushing or scraping, not as weird as it sounds, a lot of bacteria that cause bad breath live in the crevices and layer of saliva on your tongue. Brush your tongue in long sweeping strokes front to back (or it will make you gag!) or get a tongue scraper from a dentist or chemist.
Mouthwash is limited in it's effect and can actually make matter worse by drying your mouth out, bad breath always smells worse in a dry mouth. If you do want to use one try Dentyl mouthwash which has no alcohol to dry your mouth. Regular drinks stops your mouth from dehydrating too.
I'd advise a visit to your Dentist and Hygienist, to treat any Gum Disease you may have and remove any hardened plaque deposits (Tartar) .
And finally and probably most importantly..........PLEASE try to give up smoking, most of the people that I see with severe gum problems that eventually results in them loosing teeth are smokers, It really has a terrrible effect on your gums

You can rinse with Listerine after smoking which will kill odor causing germs in your mouth. Also you can brush your teeth and gums 3-4 times a day. Also since you do smoke it would probably be a good idea to make sure you are getting enough Vitamin C because smoking depletes your body's store of it. Hopefully in time you can quit smoking but until then try to keep your teeth and gums healthy with regular checkups too. Smoking is linked to periodontal disease so definitely have your dentist evaluate your gums and bone levels around the teeth at your cleanings. Good luck!

Brush, floss and use a tea tree mouth wash. Quit smoking as this is really bad for the health of you teeth/gums and it's the gums not your teeth that the whiff is coming from. Go to the hygienist and get a deep ultrasonic clean as a starting point, he/she will also be able to advise you further on oral health and how to combat bad breath. Cheers.

There really is nothing you can do about your breath when you still smoke. You mouth can be clean and fresh, but the smell is coming up from your lungs. Even when you haven't smoked in a couple of hours.

Quit smoking. Brush your teeth and use mouthwash. Eat Yogurt. But above all quit smoking. You will never smell fresh as long as you have that odor hanging around on your clothing and your skin and inside your body. I can smell a smoker from 25 feet away the instant they walk in the door.

1) Give up smoking, 2) try using retardex spray and mouthwash, 3) make sure you always have a tongue scrub when cleaning your teeth 4) floss as often as possible - at LEAST once a week!!! 5) Listerine doesn't work, it just has alcohol in it to give you that "fresh" feeling, it doesn't get rid of plaque

bad breath is most often caused by gum disease or tooth decay.Tarter build up will cause it too.Smoking doesn't help. See a dentist to make sure you don't have a more serious cause of the bad breath.

Quit smoking now. It is not glamourous, it is not elegant, it stinks, it is unhealthy, it damages your lungs, heart and circulatory system, it causes cancer, and it tastes like someone is licking an ashtry when they kiss you. All this ought to be enough.
