First day in a long time that me and my date have a day off together. What to do? Doesn't have to be columbus day related, but holidays on Monday suck cause museums are closed ... and thats typically my first choice.

He's put me in charge of planning our day, I suck at it, help!

Wouldn't mind doing some light hiking in nearby suburbs... any ideas? Or have a lazy day somewhere...

How about hoppin on the metro north up to Beacon NY and going to Dia:Beacon (modern art)?

The leaves are starting to turn....so the ride could be really nice....sit on the left side of the train and you get some fantastic river views.

Grab breakfast in the market in Grand Central, and eat on the train....

Theres a little cafe at the museum or go to the 'Piggy Bank BBQ' which is a decent walk or a quick cab (this part is a bit sketchy so ask at the museum about cabs and walking there... I had a car... but the BBQ is really good)

Then maybe LIRR to Cold Spring and have dinner at the cafe right by the station (dunno the name)

If your in a spiritual mood, grab a picnic, take the train to Cold Spring and call a cab to take you to the buddhist center there....huge buddha and a lovely area....and just chill and picnic at the gazebo on the lake....meditate if thats your thing....
