We got my daughter one when she was right at two. We kept it in our room next to our bed. She slept in it here and there, but for the most part she ended up climbing into our bed. When we moved, we bought her a "big girl bed" (twin) for her room. We let her pick out the sheets and designs she wanted in her room. She's sleeping in her bed every night! I have found that it's nice to have the full size bed because you know she won't grow out of it, but also because if she wakes up or anything like that, I can lay in there with her rather than sitting on the floor next to the bed while trying to get her back to sleep. She refuses to sleep in my bed now. She wants to sleep in her room in her "strawberry cake" bed. If you think that you have to have a toddler bed but don't know if she'll sleep in it, try a resale shop. You can get them cheap. You can take the mattress right out of her crib so you know that she is not sleeping on someone else's mattress if you are worried about something like that.

Toddler Beds are a waste of money..honestly. Just buy a twin Mattress an place it on the floor, that way if they roll they wont go far. My girl is 3 an has been sleeping in a twin bed since 2..at first i used one of the rail guards cause her bed is up off the floor. Now she sleeps with no guard at all.

I put my older daughter in a regular twin bed with a side rail when she was about 16 months old. But I didn't really worry about her wandering during the night.

Her younger sister, though, is a whole other story. She's fifteen months now, and I'm leaving her in the crib until she can climb out, which won't be long now. And then I'll move her to a regular twin bed with a side rail, but I think I will have to seriously babyproof her room and maybe put a baby gate up, because that child NEVER EVER stops moving...

I wouldn't mess around with a toddler bed, though, unless someone was giving you one for free.

THe thing that made moving my older daughter out of her crib easy was that she WANTED to be in a "big girl bed."

My son is 2 1/2, I bought him a toddler bed about 7 months ago, and I regret it. He's nearly outgrown it. I'm buying him a twin bed in a few months. So skip the toddler and go straight to the twin is my advice.

I just put my son in a toddler bed at 18 months- they stay in that bed for a good 2 or 3 years.

I don't put my children in a toddler bed until they show signs of trying to climb out of the crib...toddler beds can be bought for fairly cheep (I got one at walmart for $35.00) and it is on its 4th child so it with stood its time, but it is completely up to the parent you will have to buy side rails for a big kid bed anyways which have to be put on both sides(even the wall side)so the child doesn't get trapped between the wall and the mattress, sometimes the mattress moves.

i moved my children into a twin bed at the age of 2. I did have my step son in a toddler bed for a while, but it was a big waste of money. He didn't like it either. We was soooo proud to get a "big" bed.
BTW.....I put the twin matress and box springs on the floor and not on the bed frame for about 2 weeks just in case they fell off. They did fall off a couple of times, but withing 1 week they stopped. I just put blankets and pillows on the floor by their bed for a few nights.

I would not bother with the toddler bed. I bought my oldest son one and he might have slept one whole night in it. With my middle one I did not even bother. I would go straight to a twin size bed. Also a toddler bed only holds like fifty pounds so you can not even sit on it with her. At least if the two of you want to take a nap together you can lay with her on the twin size bed.

I recommend you leave her in her crib until she getting out of it on her own... drop that mattress to the lowest level... putting her in a toddler bed is just going to let her to be able to run around unattended while your sleeping... once she is getting out easily... just drop the side of the crib all the way down... then when she is finally to big for the crib mattress... get her a regular mattress... I started mine out with the mattress and box spring on the floor before investing in the head board and bed frame... I personally think the toddler beds are a waste of money...
