sure that would be a nice gesture, not too many people would do that. This way you might probably get invited to more events in the future. Just tell the person exactly what you wrote down for your question, but leave the mother part out.

I wouldn't... Then this person will thing they have you wrapped around their pinky. If you see this person in school & they mention anything.. Well that's when you can say yes you had a good time, etc
