If it's not in a place where she can hide it without being obvious (and scarves or sudden love of turtlenecks ARE OBVIOUS) then she's out of luck. Curling iron burns, injury, all of that is not going to fly unless her parents are really clueless or in denial about their daughter's budding maturity.

I was a teen girl once, and I'm now a mom of teens. Chances are her parents have tried the same excuses on *their* parents and will not buy it. Make up usually doesn't work unless it's a VERY light hickey. If it is light, try concealer (the stick kind) with powder, or possibly some pancake makeup. Even better is to go seek out some high dollar stage makeup that performers use.
She might be lucky if it's light AND she has long hair or she already wears turtlenecks.
If I were to go back in time to my teen years, I'd wear high neck shirts all the time so my mom wouldn't have thought of it as odd when I suddenly did. LOL.
BTDT. She needs to tell her boyfriend she's going to kick hs butt if he does it again. It's not cool to put marks in the first place but it happens... but even then, jeez! He could do it in a discreet place, like the lower neck/shoulder, or back of the neck where hair would cover it.

Her bf is definitely making it up. It's impossible for someone to fall asleep at a party, first of all, since it's a party, so people are probably partying, not drifting away to sleep. Also, he would have woken up if someone was giving him a hickey. Who would be desperate enough to give a sleeping person a hickey anyway? I"ve even heard this excuse before: "Oh, I was so bored, I gave it to myself." How dumb is that? :)

PING PONG ACCIDENT
me and my boyfriend are both soldiers, i got lost in the moment one night and left a BIG mark on his neck... when we came to work the next day he told people it was a PING PONG accidnet??! lol
