Following on from the speech made by the Pope and his reference to what the Byzantine emperor said about Muhammad, that he only brought things evil. Muslims obviously think this is wrong, so perhaps they can tell us what new revelations Muhammad added to those already contained in the Old and New Testaments that can be considered good.

PJ. Jesus brought salvation through His sacrifice on the cross. Also love and forgive your enemies, plus much more. Just read the Gospels.

Christoph...
We are talking about a religious and moral message, not social organization, this is political and does not necessarily improve anything. The communists in the former Soviet Bloc could claim something similar.

mido .... Islam does offend Christian beliefs by calling the crucifixion of Jesus a lie. The koran tells you aknowledge the truth of the injeel (Gospel), and then it contradicts itself by telling you that it lied about the death of Jesus.

pretty girl .... I have read much of the Qu'ran, it certainly does not compare to the Bible as it mostly consists of does and dont's, threats of fire and torment to those who don't accept it. and an idea of Heaven that actually contradicts the teachings of Jesus, i.e. Jesus taught that there is definitely no marriage in Heaven, it is a spiritual realm and we will be more like the angels. I have also read about the life of Muhammad, I was not impressed.

Well, as we can see, nothing. But it is not surprising. In Germany, during Hitler's rule, nazis said that the fuhrer had done many good things for the world. But I could not find any so far

Many people here have said that islam teaches peace and love for each other not just for believers. Many muslim people will also say to read the quran carefully before outsiders try and say anything about their religion. Well im going to quote you direct from the quran. "Speaking as an oracle of Allah, Mohammed commanded that all those who opposed his message be killed or they should be nailed on a tree or their hands and legs be cut off, or they be driven out of the land" (Surah 5:36)
Another quote? ok here goes. "so, when you meet in jihad, those who disbelieve smite at their necks till when you have killed and wounded many of them, then take them as captives". (Surah 47:4) And this is supposed to be a religion of peace and love? I wonder then what they regard as hate!!!
So to answer the question, Muhammad did not bring anything to the world, but evil and the destruction of many people. The person giving these instructions to Muhammed was the devil, not God.

Rationalist 999, reported
Marinos C, You are a Fool. Don't quote the Quran Incorectly. Here are the actual quotes, very different to what you wrote:
5.36. As to those who reject Faith,- if they had everything on earth, and twice repeated, to give as ransom for the penalty of the Day of Judgment, it would never be accepted of them, theirs would be a grievous penalty.
47.4 Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah.s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost.

'shadow3dcaster' gives an impressive list as all Muslims do.
How many are true/original/better ?
Islam brought misery, death & destruction in Persia (now Iran) and Bharat (now India).
They reached Spain, in the other direction, raping and pillaging.
EVERYTHING THEY CLAIM TO HAVE GIVEN TO THE WORLD WAS STOLLEN FROM INDIA. This country is based on the Indus Valley Civilisation from around 5000 years ago.

Muslims also believe in Jesus, Moses etc and we respect them, why can't you do the same for us???
I would like you to try and read the Quran, i'm not saying change ur religion just read the Quran or a book to do with Islam or Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
Than hopefully you would get your answers and understand.
The word ISLAM has a two-fold meaning: peace, and submission to God. This submission requires a fully conscious and willing effort to submit to the one Almighty God. One must consciously and conscientiously give oneself to the service of Allah. This means to act on what Allah enjoins all of us to do (in the Qur'an) and what His beloved Prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him) encouraged us to do in his Sunnah (his lifestyle and sayings personifying the Qur'an).
Once we humble ourselves, rid ourselves of our egoism and submit totally to Allah, and to Him exclusively, in faith and in action, we will surely feel peace in our hearts. Establishing peace in our hearts will bring about peace in our external conduct as well.
Islam is careful to remind us that it not a religion to be paid mere lip service; rather it is an all-encompassing way of life that must be practiced continuously for it to be Islam. The Muslim must practice the five pillars of the religion: the declaration of faith in the oneness of Allah and the prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him), prayer, fasting the month of Ramadan, alms-tax, and the pilgrimage to Makkah; and believe in the six articles of faith: belief in God, the Holy Books, the prophets, the angels, the Day of Judgment and God's decree, whether for good or ill.
There are other injunctions and commandments which concern virtually all facets of one's personal, family and civic life. These include such matters as diet, clothing, personal hygeine, interpersonal relations, business ethics, responsibilities towards parents, spouse and children, marriage, divorce and inheritance, civil and criminal law and so much more.

And prophet Muhammad (pbuh) didn't come up with anything from his mind but it was God "Allah" the one who sent him after the great corruption made to the Bible to the humanity to take them out of the darkness.
Give our religious symbols some respect because we never offend Jesus (pbuh) or your beliefs like this.

He organized a group of Arabian Nomadic people, taught them to read, and gave them power and order. He brought peace to a chaotic region and his teachings and life inspired an entired region of the world to have a renaissance-like revolution of literature and cultural enlightenment.
But then again, the Bible helped us have the Dark Ages, so its good too I guess.

I think organised religion has brought nothing but strife in it's wake. Perhaps we would have evolved our thinking better with out the dogma to keep us in our place through fear and ignorance.
I can almost hear the elders of the people, long be fore religion was invented, saying. "We've got to do something to keep these people of ours from thinking too much, as the tribe is getting larger they are coming up with all sorts of idea's they need to be controlled and what better guys than us to achieve this, let's frighten the s..t out of 'em. "Can you think of anything Roger?
