Ridicule, naturally.

I think we should treat people's opinions with as much respect as we can even those who don't believe, however it is difficult to treat peoples comments seriously when they are not being sincere or in some cases down right hateful. I believe we should treat each other with respect if for no other reason than we were created in God's image whether we agree with people or not.

To believe or not to believe--but I always "respect" people's religion, politics, whatever. If I don't agree, & discussing the subject brings no insight to either of us, I simply don't talk about it with them again. Ridicule! Such silly nonsense & so very transparent--as well as a major cause for so many dreadful things that are happening in this world. If you think about it, ridicule is truly DEFENSIVE. What does that say?

I'm assuming that you meant "respect OR ridicule".

I have no problems at all with religious beliefs unless they become used as a political tool and are used to opress others who do not agree.

MY God tells me not to ridicule anyone. And altho it is hard in my world as I feel as tho I am surrounded by silly clumsy people of all religions, I respect what brings them closer to God. Whether or not I agree. We all should have in common 2 things ~ Love for each other, but above all True Love for God.
Ridicule is for the weak minded and insecure. "The righteous will be as ferocious as a lion."

Respect. Not because it's right or wrong but because it gives their life meaning, gives them a goal. My kids want to be good because they want Santa to bring them toys. Does santa exist? To them, very much so and it has benificial effects on their behavior. Why make fun of something, even if made up, that makes someone happy?

everyone has the free will and right to be as they see fit as long as they abide by the laws rules and mores of the society in which they live. everyone should treat another with respect if they want to be treated with respect themselves

I believe that religious beliefs should be treated with respect. All people should be treated with respect. Except criminals, but they should not be treated poorly, because they are still children of God.

religion is something considered very deep in every bodies heart. I respect every body and their thinking and I feel that if I treat it in ridicule, then I'm wasting the time of everybody (including mine).

This doesn't mean that I will not challenge it of course.

In this case you have to paraphrase the Christians:
You can ridicule the ideology, but not the ideologue.
Saying "Scripture X doesn't make sense" is NOT the same as saying; "You are absurd."
Remember: A person is NOT a religion.

I treat all religions with respect, and I never make fun of anyone. But I will question and challenge them.
