The following idea is almost suicide, but I know someone who actually did it to avoid going to Viet Nam; apparently he was not too comfortable with the idea of killing complete strangers and possibly getting himself killed by complete strangers in a far away land which he didn't even know existed (he grew up on a farm in Montana) till something called Communism apparently threatened his peaceful way of life at his parents' farm, at least according to the warmongers of his time. Perhaps the prospect of being forced to kill or be killed or disfigured or mentally shattered for life was a little more important than fitting into your costume, and thus called for desperate measures, but nonetheless, looking good seems to be quite important these days, so here goes:

This guy stopped eating altogether, simply quit eating, Mahatma Ghandi style, and drank grape juice all day. Lost so much weight that he was considered unfit by the Mengele doctor that decides whether you go to war or not, due to how thin he had gotten.

It worked, and he is in perfect health to this day.

Of course, he started eating after his physical......... I recommend you do the same after Halloween, if you choose to take this course of action. Also, you could combine with vitamins, after all, you aren't caught in a life or death situation, I guess you CAN cut yourself a little slack there.

Forget about losing 30 pounds before Halloween. Even if you have determined that your ideal weight is 100 pounds, it is neither safe nor realistic to lose that much weight so fast.
30 lbs is a high percentage of your weight . If you try to reduce using "crash diet " methods you will end up losing muscle mass as well as fat. In the long run that is not a good thing. 2.5-3 lbs per week is really the most anyone should lose.
I would check with my doctor.

That being said, you can probably lose 5-8 pounds safely before Halloween and here is how I do it:
Breakfast:
1/2 cup raw oatmeal mixed with 1 cup plain yogurt
blueberries, 1/2 apple juice
(this is a Swiss dish called Buerchermuesli)

1/2 canteloupe
3/4 cup orange juice
green tea

Lunch:

1slice whole wheat bread
tuna salad with 1 can albacore tuna in spring water
romaine lettuce
tomatoes, onions, bell peppers (much as you like)
1 Tbsp olive oil and rice vinegar for dressing
2 plums or kiwi fruit

celery, carrot sticks and radishes( as many as you like)

spring water to drink

Dinner: 2 servings of steamed squash
steamed spinach
grilled chicken breast
1/2 cup brown Basmati rice
1 green apple
green tea
This is the basic diet I eat which is nutritious , low in fat , and high is vegetables with some complex carbohydrates and ample protein. Figure your portion sizes to give you about 1500-1800 calories. Depending on your workout regimen you may need more or less protein, but but my diet includes plenty
of fish, tofu and dairy protein .

I also use lots of tofu and other soy products, as well as lentils and beans.

Now the hard part. Running-2.5 miles 5 days per week, and I mean hard, Work up sweat, and push yourself a bit. Be sure and stretch well beforehand and check with a physician to make sure it is safe. But don't just go through the motions.
Walking 2.5 miles every day
Yoga excercises- 30 min per day
hand weights- 3 workouts per week

This is the diet and regimen I have used for years.
Do it and stick with it and you will look and feel terrific for years
to come. There are no quick fixes and the journey toward perfection is worth as much as the end result.
Good luck.

I'm not sure that 100 is the ideal weight foryou. It would depend on your height and body frame size. You might try situps to firm up your tummy. There are other exercises that firm abdominal muscles also. Try eating a green salad before eating the rest of your meal. It will help satisfy some of your appetite so you won't overeat. Drinking a full glass of water before you eat is also good. If you drink soda pop, switch to the diet brands, or to iced tea or iced water. I don't know if you will lose 30 lbs, but you should be in a little better shape anyway by doing these things.

1. WHY?!?! are you "making weight" for a boxing or wrestling match? I don't see where you "nedd" (ahem!) to lose 30 pounds, or 25% of your weight!

2. You're trying to lose 25% in 3 weeks. Let's think about that. 25%. Do you understand all of the health problems that you're risking by doing this? You can lose that if you fast (don't eat), or get sick (I lost 20 in 2 weeks last year), but there is no safe and sane way of doing it.

There is NO HEALTHY WAY to lose 30 pounds in three weeks. You could try some stuff that makes you go to the bathroom excessively but you could dehydrate and it's not healthy. You should see if someone could tailor the costume so its a little bigger for your waist. 100 lbs is probably not an ideal body weight anyway for you and it's not the weight its the fitness or fat that is likely the issue.

First of all that is not a realistic goal. That on average is more than 10 pounds per week. That is not going to happen. With that in mind the best way to lose the largest amount of weight in the shortest time is a sensible diet and exercise working the large muscle groups of the body. These are found in the legs, chest, arms, etc... By pairing the large muscle groups in exercises the most effective weight loss can be achieved. Aim to eat around 1800-2200 calories per day. Eating too little will not increase weight loss. Eating too little will trigger your body to store fat.

Eat to live, don't live to eat...

Losing weight really is as simple as basic addition and subtraction. If the calories you eat add up to more than what you burn in a given time period, you will gain weight. Conversely, if you eat fewer calories than you burn, you will lose weight. Depending on your size and activity level, the number of calories will vary quite a bit. The secret is finding your “break even” calorie intake level. For most people, the “ball park” figure will be around 1800 to 2000 calories per day. If you are larger than average, this number will be higher, lower if you are smaller than average. Metabolic rate can have an effect on these numbers as well. Exercise plays an important role also, as this can increase the number of calories you burn by quite a bit as well as increasing your metabolic rate.

If you want a generally healthy diet that’s easy to follow and avoids hunger, the one I recommend will do the job very well. You can fill up and still lose weight. Eat lots of fresh vegetables as they contain very few calories yet are full of good nutrition. The less you cook them, the more nutrition they retain. Stick with whole grains, as they tend to be better for you and don’t turn to sugar as readily as processed grains do. For example, whole grain bread is much better for you than plain white bread. Eat a variety of fruit on a daily basis. Avoid empty carbs, fats, and sugars…. Examples: junk food and soda. If you feel you need protein to build muscle, add some chicken or fish to your diet. Avoid beef and dairy products, the cons outweigh the pros.

If you can’t get your mind into the ‘eat to live; don’t live to eat’ mode, you should probably read this short article on the psychology behind overeating:

you can't safely do that honey. you should only lose 2 pounds a week. But I bet even if you only lose 5 pounds, your costume will still fit a little better

Become vegetarian. Take walks How tall are you? 100 pounds is good if you're 5 feet, but if you're taller than that, 100 isn't healthy.
