Serious question. Can this be done? It's sooooo simple and cheap for pets. Is it done for kids?

Normally the idea would be rather offensive to me, but in this case, the case of a child who has once been abducted and hidden (for a YEAR) by her father, and whose father is highly likely to do it again (courts have not limited his visitation and mom hasn't the money for fighting anymore in court).... well, it kinda seems like a good idea!

Thoughts/info?

Edited to add: mom got her back on her own, by hiring a PI and getting a lawyer to help for free. There is no more money for more lawyers or legal battles to prevent him from doing this again. She was 2.5 when taken, 3.5 when returned, and is traumatized. Dad had visitation rights only, and was allowed liberal visits but took her anyway, out of spite.

I was thinking of something along the lines of where the child went missing, and you had a reasonable idea as to the state at least, if that child were taken to the doctor, the doc would scan and know that the child was abducted.

I realize it's crazy, but there is a huge feeling of desparation when you constantly fear your child won't return from a visit and no one will help you. If she was older, mom could just send a cell phone in her backpack so at least GPS tracking could be used, but she's too little for that.

They would actually have to FIND the child to test the micro chip. It would be useless unless it were to identify the body. Humans are not dogs.

So, what exactly, do you think the chip is going to do? Please think about this. What good would it do? The child is taken. You probably know who has taken the girl (dad) and it's just a matter of locating them. The chip IS worthless.

Idon'' advise this for anyone, simply becuase there is too much room for abuse, by government and by the private sector. With the proper equipment you child can be tracked anywhere, by who know who, even pedophiles .

It might sound like a good idea but then Im sure the idea of tatooing seriel numbers on Jews to make sure who they were sounded like a good idea too.

Depends on where you are.

Stateside I don't think chips like that are approved by the FDA for that use, so, not if you're American.
