I love cats and understand them very well, I also understand why your cat is like this even without ever having met her!
It's because they're MENTAL, and that's why we all love them! They're like little people, not like dogs who are animals who we can tell what to do!
It's the whole "I'm gonna do this now, what you gonna do about it?" attitude that you don't get from any other domestic animal!

Cats unfortunately tend to live by their own rules. She sounds like she wants to play most at night so try playing with her loads before going to bed.
A laser pointer is a good lazy way to play with a cat. They seem to go crazy trying to catch the ever elusive red dot! You can even buy some especially designed for cats. Try Ebay.
Hopefully she will be really tired after that and go to sleep with you and eventually get into your sleeping pattern.

Oh lord! Believe me I know about this one! When I first got my cat Kali, when she was a kitten, every night she'd get extremely hyper and do all kinds of crazyness! Personally, it used to freak me out. lol. But cats are nocturnal animals, they usually sleep during the day and live by night. But if your cat is still young, she'll calm down. She'll get all fat and lazy eventually!

My cat loves to go spastic on me. I set up a play area for her. It has toy mice that move around and I have string connested to two polls with feathers tied to them. I buy the easter gras round easter time and throw it in there she loves it ribbons to. Its the only way i can sleep through the night without her waking me up. If your cat likes boxes do wut the girl i babysitt for does put it on its side and put holes in the top, stock different things in the holes like string feathers, little furry mice. it keeps her three cats busy for hours.

You have a nocturnal cat. Very normal. You may just have to keep your bedroom door shut. Good luck.

Mine does too. I will be petting her & she'll be calm & lay there on my lap. All of a sudden she gets really really violent & bites me like a crocodile & kicks like a maniac with her back feet. I have scars over scars!
