good call Benedict... your living up to the name "good speak"
limbo is not really in the scriptures and frankly neither is purgatory
in general I like a lot about JP II and alot about the new Pope but I'll stick with the scriptures as the final arbiter of truth
I would suggeast abondoning the notion of maco evolution, palagianism next and encouraging people to study the scriptues and to know Jesus better !!!!! also avoid making Mary or Saints into gospel substitutes and appreciate them for the people of faith and monuments to grace they are
being a Pope is a tough tough job in this world and may people pray that the Pope help the catholic church look to its head, Jesus Christ for direction. "salvation is of the Lord!!!" Jonah "The Lord is our righteousness" Isaiah

I'm pleased that it softened a previously harsh doctrine (which, in turn, had softened an even harsher previous doctrine that all stillborn babies, having died unbaptized, went to Hell). I'm not so thrilled that people think he did this to "woo" people in the Middle East and Africa into becoming Catholic since those areas have a high infant mortality rate but, heck, some people will always try to put a negative spin on what the Pope does.

as quickly as lower back, a basic fake effect of what the Church teaches is in play here. Limbo became in no way defined and formally declared "actual" by using the Church. It became a suggestion in keeping with the thinking approximately "what occurs to the unbaptized," and became seen not exceptionally lots toddlers, yet all of us, in all time, who weren't able to acquire the present of baptism. It became continuously undergirded by using the incontrovertible fact that God is merciful. And the contemporary education by using the Pope became meant to enhance that actuality interior the minds of the truthful. The Church in no way declared that there is the variety of place, purely that there may be the variety of place interior the financial gadget of salvation. interior the top, the main suitable disposition has continuously been declared to be interior the hands of God. Limbo became one way of thinking approximately what may be. Please give up preserving onto the thought "the Pope variations doctrine at will." this is fake. Doctrine does not replace. self-discipline might adapt to the situations and desires of the truthful, yet this is a diverse element altogether.

Limbo was never an official doctrine of the church. And there has been debate and conversation on the issue for several hundred years. The edict is just news and news to us.

I respect Pope Benedict XVI very much, but he did not change anything at this time.
Limbo is still limbo for now. Not a part of Sacred Tradition, only human tradition so change is possible.
Sacred Tradition, can not be changed by any Pope or any person.

Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has be rejected.
The church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.
With love in Christ.

I was miles ahead of the Pope. I have always believed that Limbo was not a place that unbaptized children or adults, and those born before Jesus came to earth went to after death. I have always believed that my God was not that cruel........

I think its funny. I think the pope should send a delegation to the next Southern Baptist Convention and ask if they could come up with some suggestions that would help the Catholic church.

It's about time! I've been told that it never was a rule of the Church, yet I've been taught that. How anyone could think that unbaptized babies don't go to heaven is amazing to me. It doesn't say much about the love of God.
