First of all males do not go into heat, females do. To prevent breeding you will have to keep them separated. Also if it is the female that is in heat you need to protect her form other non neutered male dogs, because they will smell her and search her out. As for the male you need to ensure that he does not get lose and mate un-spayed females in your area. Really the best solution is to get them both spayed as soon as possible.

Separate them now. Then, get one spayed and one neutered. I must be very ignorant. I thought males were always in heat. The females are the ones that go into "heat." Anytime is okay with a male. Get your female away from him. Good wishes to you.

Males don't go in heat, females do. You need to keep them completely seperated for at least 3 weeks. Keep them in seperate rooms or in crates. Take the male to be neutered asap since this is a quicker & cheaper surgery and then make arrangements to get your female spayed. They will be much happier & healthier for it and you won't have to worry about an accidental pregnancy.

There is no way you "male poodle" can be in heat. It only can be your female and the male is acting up, since he smell's it.
You have to seperate them, if you want to prevent pregnancy or supplies your female with some kind of diaper, so the male can't reach her.

Males do not go "in heat." They can "reproduce" at any time. Females go in heat. Spaying is always an option. Go to http://www.friendsofanimals.org and get your dogs fixed...both for under $200.

Don't breed. To many dogs die every day.

ok i'm gonna tell you somethin males do go in heat but not as vad as females.females are a bit more messy BUT.......males can get a bit edgy.if you can't get them fixed keep them apart.females are in heat for about 10 days but the last 2-3 days of her heat she won't let the male near her.try to keep them in different rooms for the next 10 days.and no don't lock them up but whensay you put them out to do the do put them out one at a time.and when you are able to come up with the money have the male fixed for the mean time they don't cost as much as the female does.

You are clearly too dumb to own pets. Males DO NOT go into heat.
God, get on a website and get some freaking information!!!!!

Do human males get a period?????????????

You really need to spay or neuter, because breeding and puppies are a lot more complicated that this!!!!!!

KEEP THEM SEPERATE AT ALL COSTS!!

I had this prob a while back, but unfortunately my son autistic son lost the plot and let them loose together, few months later, she had 9 puppies, and let me tell you, getting them good homes is a nightmare! Even now, they 10 months old, we just had another 1 come back and we had to rehome it again.

Then get them done, for 2 reasons. 1) its stops them breeding with anyone and 2) it calms them down, A LOT!

If you live in UK, try somewhere like Blue Cross or Spaywatch, they helped me out with costs.

Good Luck!
