allowed to vote? I'm just curious because I was out canvassing with the local mayoral candidate and met some Jehovah's Witnesses, they were interested in what we had to say, but said they couldn't vote. Why not?

Technically, Jehovah's Witnesses can vote. Almost uniformly, however, they choose not to.

They believe that God's Messianic Kingdom is a real government which will soon replace all human governments. Jehovah's Witnesses consider themselves to be ambassodors or envoys of God's government, and so believe that they must demonstrate political and nationalist neutrality.

When Jehovah's Witnesses do choose to vote, they typically write in the name "Jehovah" or "Jesus". Sadly, most humans are unwilling to swear allegiance to either of those names.

Jehovah's Witnesses don't vote because in the bible book of Matthew, Jesus commanded his followers not to be 'a part of the world.' Being in the world means that you take part in worldly affairs such as voting. Since the Jehovah's Witnesses are strict followers of the bible they follow this rule. I know a lot of people don't agree with that but that's why they don't.

And Born again Christian. We do believe that 144,000 go to heaven but the other MILLIONS of people will live in a pardise on Earth. The bible specifically says 'the meek shall inherit the earth'. Then about changing yes they change but they only change when they find out a practice that they allow or don't allow is right or wrong. And if you want to speak on changing in religion take someone being gay (I have NO problem with gay people at all. Some of my friends are gay) Being gay used to be shunned, horribly by mostly all religions. Now look how people feel, its more widely accepted than ever. Some religions have changed their whole outlook on someone being gay. The Jehovah's Witnesses have not.

Well the equal manner that we've got a private title and could love to be known as via our title as an alternative of Man, Woman, Boy & so forth is the equal manner that God feels. Psalms eighty three:18 says "May humans recognize that you simply, whose title is Jehovah,You on my own are the Most High over the entire earth." The undeniable fact that his title is recounted within the Bible suggests God needs his title to be identified & for the reason that we're his witnesses or fans, we're known as Jehovah's Witnesses.

because the act of voting is tantamount to rejecting god's kingdom as the source of the solution for the problems that face ALL humans.
Daniel 2:44 shows quite clearly that ALL human governments will be wiped out by God'skingdom.
All human kingdoms will be done away with at the end of the "appointed times of the nations", so why would anyone who claims to be a christian get ensnared by the lie that humans have within their capacity the ability to solve their problems?
1000's of years of history support the Biblical observation that men have dominated men to their own injury.
If you really think that a single government on this earth does not have corruption and self interest at the core of it's existence, I would like to hear about it!

They don't believe in active participation in this worlds affairs, even if it aligns with how they believe. They only acknowledge the government of Jehovah, and therefore also refuse to pledge allegiance to the flag. No, i'm not a J.W., was married to one for 14 long years though.

Its against their religion to be patriotic. Even voting for officials is not allowed. They stay right out of politics.

Service in the armed forces or any form of allegiance to government is prohibited; one must show allegiance only to the Kingdom of Christ.

Jehova witnesses do not belive that Jesus is the son of God who died on the cross for our sins. but they do follow some of God's laws like this one.

Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Jehovah's Witnesses are a non-Christian cult.

God never changes, but the beliefs of the JWs have changed over and over, including when Jesus would return.

Hey, any JW, answer this. If only 144,000 are going to Heaven, why do you have MILLIONS of members?

they say they do not want to get involved. so its easier just to sit back and watch men like bill clinton take office and allow the morals of our president affect everyone. better just to get out and vote, make your view be known!
