If she is eating healthy thats all that matters... she is still young and had alot of growing to do. I wouldnt think thast its going to be a problem but you may want to find out what she eats at school. She may eat snacks there if she isnt bringing a lunch. She is really too young to be concerned with her appearence, I would be concerned about what she is saying. Belemia is hard to notice because usually people dont lose weight with it so dont just be looking for signs by how thin she looks. You might want to keep an eye on her and compliment her. Even go so far as to set her up with a school counselor to discuss her self-esteem issues.

It sounds like your daughter is fine. It's also normal for girls to put on a little extra weight before they go into puberty. If you're really concerned about it, talk to her doctor. Don't take it too seriously if she keeps complaining she's fat, a lot of preteens and teens think they're a little heafty but it's all nonsense. Tell her that being fat is not necessarily a bad thing and make sure she knows you will still love her no matter what she weighs. Also keep watching her diet to make sure she doesn't become anerexic or belemic. Make sure she knows how dangerous that is.

The fact that you're not immediately denying her question of being overweight is quite sad. First off, she's a little girl and shouldn't be worrying about weight at the weight she is at. Second, she might be being influenced by outside sources--school, tv, magazines and you should do your best to address the unreal images they portray. Third, according to the BMI, she is on the lower end of the "Normal" weight range. So, please address her concerns in a positive manner to help prevent her from developing low self-esteem, or worse, an eating disorder.

No, I'm 14 and 5'4" and weigh 125. 118 is a normal weight for her age. She's still growing so tell her not to worry, she's not fat.

Wow. I'm gonna' say NO. She's NOT fat. Even tho she is 11, 118 pounds sounds like a healthy weight for someone who is 5'3".
Tell her to RELAX.

and fill in the information on the Child/Teen Body Mass Index Calculator. It will tell you where she is physically.
