tom tom 700 owner.
It is amazingly good, I have used it all over the UK and parts of europe.
I have speed cam detector software, which I update regularly.
It has saved me from (at least) a couple of tickets.

It does have limitations....new roads confuse it....some areas of really thick overarching tree cover and lots of high rise buildings can block the satellite signal.
But it is able to pick up new routes, if you come to a detour or take a wrong turning.

all round and excellent piece of kit and well worth the money

I would not give one to my enemy, We have a global sat nav it was suppose to take away all the stress of getting lost whilst travelling up and down the country,

We have never had so much stress with using the sat nav i am surprised my husband has not thrown it out the window,I really don't think they have made the perfect sat nav yet, many people are saying Tom Tom's are good i have recently seen these on a watch dog programme as people have had a lot of problems.

Sat Nav's are still quite pricey and if i was you save your money and buy a good map.

Some people love them and some people hate them. What you have to remember is that they only tell you the most direct route to take to get to your required destination....they do not take into account the type of vehicle you are driving. There have been quite a few instances in my local town (Huddersfield) where lorry drivers have been sent up roads which are totally unsuitable for the vehicles. The roads start out wide enough for them and end up too narrow for the vehicle to even turn around. Plenty of residents have had their walls knocked down as a result. I also know of some people towing caravans and trailers who have been sent up roads which were not suitable...

On the other hand we have had people use them to find our home, and they have pulled up outside as the sat nav is saying that they have arrived at their destination.

One other point is that if you have a speed cam detector with your sat nav they are illegal in France and you WILL be prosecuted if one is found in your possession.

we have had 2 the first one you put the name of the place you wanted to go to and it took us to the wrong place the second one which we still have you put the postcode of where you want to go and it takes you to the right place we later got told the only good sat navs are the ones you put the post code in ambulances have these ones and fire engines do as well the police don't as they think they know where there going anyway the ones you put your post code in are the ones to buy so yes they are worth buying

I have aGarmin 3.i street pilot sometimes it sends me the wrong way but mainly it directs me the correct way.

I can either put in street name or postcode, though the latter is not always correct. I tested it just after I had bought it and put in my mum's postcode it sent me two streets away!!

I do think it was worth the money and it also gives an approx. time of arrival.

These thing`s are a load of crap ! i borrowed one from a Friend ( i was travelling to Birmingham from teesside ) when i got to Birmingham it sent me to 11 different addresses ! it was telling me to turn left / right AFTER i had passed the turning ! there is 2 arrows on the screen one in black the other green , the black arrow is you and the green one is the computer , the green one is always behind the black playing catch up ! you would have to drive at a constant 20 mph in order for the damn thing to work properly ( not much good when you are on a 50 mph road ) this is why it tell`s you to turn left / right after you have already passed the turning ( because the green arrow is behind ) stick to auto route or a map and save your cash they are useless !!!!!
